Likely 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney appeared on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" Tuesday as part of his tour to promote his new book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness."
Asked about potential rival Sarah Palin, Romney called her "terrific" and added, "she's got energy, passion." He then urged Letterman to "be careful what you say about her by the way," a reference to the feud between the two kicked off by Letterman's comments about Palin's daughter.
Letterman grinned and nodded, saying, "I've had my ," before trailing off as the audience began laughing.
Responded Romney: "She has a rifle, you know."
In his opening monologue, Letterman called Romney a "good looking Republican from Massachusetts," comparing him to new GOP senator Scott Brown, "but with pants."
The two men discussed cars and the auto industry, with Romney telling Letterman he drives a Ford Mustang. They also talked about Romney's father George, the former Michigan governor and auto executive.(continued)

Romney reminds me of John Edwards(not the affairs part, but the fake part) he rubs me the wrong way when I see him. I just see FAKE all over him. Goes on Letterman, is he that desperate to sell his book he needs to go on that vile show, and he went on The View too, kissing Behar’s ass.
So do a lot of us, Romney... and you better not forget it.
Y’know what... I’d like to see Scott Brown on the 2012 repub ticket. Id vote for him as president.
I always tell my mom he looks like he should be doing the weather on a local TV station, or hosting a gameshow.
So you like abortion on demand, state-run healthcare plans (he’s all for the one in Massachusetts, just not the Fed one), and government “Job Stimulus” bills?Because Scott Brown is for all of those things.
Perhaps you’re on the wrong website. We at FR value Senator Brown for his vote against ObamaCare, hopes that he’ll at least be fiscally responsible (and that’s now going against evidence), and not much else.
Shes terrific, Romney rapidly replies to derisive audience laughter. She really is! Shes terrific. Shes got energy, passion by the way, you know, be careful what you say about her.
Romney adds with a smile, She has a rifle, you know.
So says the man that lied about having a rifle himself, he did not. So says the man that never owned a gun or belonged to the NRA and then suddenly bought a lifetime membership for the 2007 primary campaign. So says the man that claimed to be a "lifelong hunter" until again, he had to confess that he was just lying yet again.
He was a RINO the day he was elected
At least she owned her rifle before a couple of years ago.....
Is Romney a MINO or does he practice his faith?
So if everyone is post Brown elect whelping then
why did you all not just vote for that woman?
I was encouraged to read that that M16/M4 clones were the best-selling firearms of 2009.
For MA, that qualifies as Ultra-Conservative, bordering on Reactionary.
For the rest of us, well...what you said.
I have a rifle too.....also a double-barreled shotgun, a 40 caliber Glock, and a S&W 38.
Mitt is like a non-randy Bill Clinton. His positions are very fluid and are based entirely on what the audience wants to hear. To get elected in Mass he ran as a pro-abort, anti-gun, and pro-gay candidate. To try to win the nomination he flipped on those and other issues. The man is a snake who will say anything to better his chances.
Do you expect something else from Massachusetts?
No.
Why?
