The private hands GM and Chrysler will end up in are those of the UAW. No one else need apply.

Not really. If GM were partly owned by the UAW that would force them to face reality. So long as the shareholders and bondholders were getting burned, the UAW didn't care. But if the UAW has a vested interest in getting GM up on it's feet then that will force serious changes. It might just bring some of these union thugs to their senses. They will have to face reality.

I would have like to have seen GM go through a normal Chapter 11 Bankruptcy with the UAW being eliminated. They are phasing in a wage and salary structure that will make them competitive. They have incredible new cars in the pipeline. In fact their new cars are significantly better than Ford or Toyota. I have in on good word that the public will be amazed at what GM will turn out in the next 2 or 3 years. We need to keep this company healthy for our economy. It would be different if we had 5 or 6 car companies but we are down to 3 or maybe even 2-1/2 with Chrysler being owned by Fiat. Despite the fact I despise the Obama administration with every fiber in my body and I hate the UAW almost as much, seeing GM go belly up would be a crushing blow to our economy.

GM is doing well everywhere but the US. That ought to tell you something.
