...it's time to ban marriages between first cousins and stop playing what he calls "genetic roulette" with their offspring.
Henry Heller, a Democratic delegate, or state representative, says he wants to bring Maryland "into the enlightened world of other states such as West Virginia and Arkansas" that already prohibit unions of first cousins...
The bill would make an exception for people who are over age 65 or infertile. Heller says he has "no problem" with those couples if they want the companionship.
There are 24 states that prohibit marriage between first-cousins.

Arabs...mental defects, usually expressed as "Islam". ;-)
British royal family...no need to go into it; it is self evident. ;-)

09/23/2009 IN THE NEWS: Arab and Muslim Inbreeding Causes Extensive Genetic Defects
A 1994 study found a mean excess mortality with inbreeding at the first cousin level of 4.4%.[41] 41.^ Bittles, A.H. (2001). A Background Background Summary of Consaguineous marriage. consang.net. http://www.consang.net/images/d/dd/01AHBWeb3.pdf. Retrieved 2010 , citing Bittles, A.H.; Neel, J.V. (1994). "The costs of human inbreeding and their implications for variation at the DNA level". Nature Genetics (8): 117-121.
According to one paper (Jaber et al, Community Genetics, 1998), congenital malformations are 2.5 times more common among offspring of inbred couples than of unrelated parents.
A famous example is the "blue Fugates," members of an inbred Kentucky hill clan who suffered from a rare genetic blood disorder that made their skin look blue. (Please see: The Straight Dope: Is there really a race of blue people?) Are there inbred families in the Ozarks/Appalachians like in Deliverance? and scroll to #2.
Need help on correcting if this isnt right.
Larry the Cable Guy said one of his relatives claimed to have married his third cousin.
I cant remember Larrys retort. HELP!
Did he divorce the first two, or is he a bigamist?
I assumed that it was normal if there were no comments. I also don’t believe the comment about “moderation in alcohol use” has any significance either. That’s standard 99386 jargon included under anticipatory guidance/risk factor reduction.
That proves I am more suspicious of this bunch in the WH. I assume they are hiding any negative info purposely.
They probably also counseled him about seatbelt/safety helmet use, and firearms safety in the home. If they included the part about regular dental visits, I know they did. It’s straight off the USPSTF guidelines.
Remember the last biking pic we had of their family on one of their multiple vacations? He was the only one not wearing a helmet.
If it bothers you so much then STOP COUNTING !
I don't know. I do know it was common when Jews lived in small rural settlements (shtetls) back in Russia and Poland. Some of the first cousin marriage was legitimate due to the small number of potential marriage partners. I don't approve of cousin marriage but the worst effect (inbreeding) comes from doing it generation after generation which many Muslim societies do
Larry The Cable Guy: I had a buddy of mine call up the other day, all upset ‘cause he slept with his third cousin. And I’m like, man, if it upsets you that much, quit countin’ them.
Dude. You take all the fun out of conspiracy mongering.
I
LOL That will work!
Mary I of England (daughter of Henry VIII) and Mary II of England (daughter of James II) both married their first cousins. Neither marriage produced any children, which may have been just as well.
To my knowledge frowned upon, but I don't believe there is any prohibition.
#2...now that’s funny!! I don’t care what anybody says.
Thanks you guys. JH Hertz affirms it in his “Pentateuch and Haftorahs”, but I don’t like it either.
Shalom.
Hey dip$hit.....can't you read???? It's already stated....
"he wants to bring Maryland "into the enlightened world of other states such as West Virginia and Arkansas" that already prohibit unions of first cousins...
It wasn't that inbreeding would combine the two recessive traits, it was that being on the X, men only inherited one copy; and woe to one who inherited a defective copy.
At the start of WWI the King of England, the Czar of Russia, and the Kaiser of Germany were all cousins. Talk about a family feud!
Your a women with that potty mouth. Wow! You might be a women but not a conservative that is for sure.
>>No one has yet demonstrated an increase in stillbirths or genetic defects in first cousin consanguinity.
I’m not sure that’s the case at all. Apparently consanguinity is widespread in the Middle East, and a problem. Do some searches with the keywords Middle East Consanguinity and you get hits like this:
