Do CBS News executives have their sights set on Anderson Cooper?
Mr. Cooper, a prime time CNN anchor, already contributes to “60 Minutes,” the prestigious CBS newsmagazine. And the relationship could expand. Monday’s New York Times reports:
CBS executives, mindful that Katie Couric’s contract expires in a little over a year, have talked to Anderson Cooper of CNN about an anchor job, according to two TV veterans informed of the meeting.
The meeting took place months ago, well before Mr. Cooper was dispatched to cover the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January.
The silver-haired Mr. Cooper has worked at CNN since 2001, and has anchored the channel’s 10 and 11 p.m. hours since 2005.
It is unclear whether Mr. Cooper was (or is) being considered by CBS executives as a replacement for Ms. Couric, the anchor of the “CBS Evening News.” Her five-year contract ends in mid-2011.

He is anxious and bit self-absorbed. From what I have seen, Cooper isn’t as bad as many at his network.
Overall, this is a sign that NBC sees that libtards like Couric are best on “The View” (bets, anyone?) are dying and that just simple lefties like Cooper might stop the bleeding.

There was talk of a pink slip. Turns out they were talking about Anderson’s underwear not his job.
I doubt seriously that this will become a done deal. The guy just doesn’t have it. But, since when do you have to “have it” to be a CBS anchor?

Couric was an idiotic choice, but at least she was at the top of her time-slot for the better part of a dozen years (maybe longer) before CBS gave her a break. Cooper’s show, OTOH, is routinely getting beat by reruns Brady Brunch on TVLand. The guy has absolutely NO RECORD of success. He’s rating kryptonite.
