McCain brushes off questions on Hayworth and 'socialist agenda'
The Hill ^ | 2/28/10 | Bridget Johnson

Sen. John McCain brushed aside questions about his primary challenger's views on the ideology of the Obama administration Sunday, saying he had enough dealing with his own "misstatements."

McCain faces former Rep. J.D. Hayworth in his home state of Arizona for the GOP Senate nomination. McCain was asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" about statements on Hayworth's website that refer to the White House's "socialist agenda."

"Do you think that goes too far?" host David Gregory asked McCain.

"Look, you'll have to have Mr. Hayworth on to explain the things he says," McCain said. "There is no doubt in my mind America's a right of center nation and this administration is governing from the left. That's why the president's approval ratings continue to decline."

Gregory pressed McCain to comment on the words of Hayworth, a radio and television personality whose campaign site pitches him as "The Consistent Conservative."

I hate McCain as much as the next freeper does but judging from what I read here I don’t see where McCain did or said anything outrageous in this instance. I didn’t see the broadcast myself.

Seems to me he was right not to answer the question about what someone else puts on their website. That kind of question is typical MSM lazy schlock reporting.

Xactly. But those who hate him over other issues are not remotely interested, they just want any stick to beat him with.

Here's this prick McCain trying desperately not to piss off the conservative base anymore, but come hell or high water after the election he'll be right back to dissin' conservatives!

This man is a worse enemy to conservatives than Obama could ever think of being, and for anyone who doesn't understand this in the republican party you need to get out or sit down and STFU because conservatives are taking over, period!

Just remember folks: We have the 2006/2008 Pelosi Reid Congress and 2008 Obama in large part because of McCain-Feingold. The Dems are furious that SCOTUS overturned it.

Your country is being destroyed by a Kenyan Islamo-Marxist because this evil RINO fool Juan McCain passed this stupid bill.

The SOB Juan McCain will stick a knife in ANY conservative’s back but he sucks up to Obama and is his poddle boy along with his sissy pal Graham-nesty.

McCain doesn’t want to diss Obama by calling him a socialist. JD tells it like it is while Maverick McCain saves his hard, nasty stuff for his fellow Reps. It is what McCain didn’t say than what he said.

Amen. McCain-Feingold gave us 2006/2008 Pelosi-Reid Congress and 2008 Obama.

It also helped terminally **** the economy and our financial system for a long long long time.

And if some idiots here cannot understand the damage Juan McCain has done then good luck if you are a senior or baby boomer because your retirement is probably ****ed as are your kids and grandkids.

You can thank McCain-Feingold for that.

A lot of people have no clue how bad things are and how bad they are going to get.

I cannot believe Palin, Thompson, Pawlenty, Romney and others cannot connect the dots on Juan MCCain. They are idiots or traitors like Amnesty John.

No one leader of our government in the history of this country is worse on any and every issue than Barack Hussein Obama. No One.

Telling everyone here that has a different thought on any subject that differs from yours to sit down and shut up sounds more like Obama and Pelosi than a Republican.

Who died and made you GOD!

McCain thinks the Medicare bit and attacking vitamins will tell us all he’s embracing conservative values.

McNuts doesn’t want to address any questions about socialism. People might start to match up his policies and the definition of socialism.

I don't care if your thoughts are different than mine. However, if those of you who are on this board are of John McCain ilk, as a conservative I'm coming for you, and I am not going to let up til I politically beat your moderate/rino asses into the ground. If you don't like it, GTFO of the party, or face the wrath!

I have a permission slip from God! You want to see it, namby?

While I may not have put it as succinctly as sirch, I do agree wholeheartedly that John McCain is a cancer cell in the conservative body politick and must be isolated.

I don't care what you think of John McCain or anyone else for that matter. I also don't fear your so called wrath. What I do not like is someone to tell me to sit down and shut up. I am a Christian, conservative, capitalist and vote Republican.

So take your threats of wrath and shove em.

I have a permission slip from God! You want to see it, namby?

I have a King James Bible from God that says I am a freeman with freedom of speech. That is all the permission I need.

I have no idea what a namby is but you might notice I didn't call you a bad name unless comparing you to Obamba and Pelosi is a bad name..

Obama is, IS the worst leader this country has ever had, ever.

Show me where I defended John McCain in my post.

I will not stand mute while someone tells me to sit down and shut up.

Obama is the most destructive leader this country has ever had.

Those were my points,if you or anyone else don't agree, so be it.

Is what I'm saying over your head? Do you not understand the simple fact John McCain does more to destroy this party than Obama could ever do? Are you that daft you can not see if conservatives are stifled then America ever increasingly decreases? Obama, is nothing. He can't hurt conservatism or America because Americans see this socialist for who he is, and won't allow it. Isn't that obvious to you by now? Do the words "Tea Party" mean anything to you?

McCain on the other hand goes around within his own party dissing conservatives and their ideas and sides with the dems more when it doesn't fit his political convenience. I'm sick of him, people like him, and dumbasses who think they are smarter than everybody else keeping these prix in power destroying our way of life. So, please forgive me if I seemed a little miffed, but the reality is I will do everything in my God-given power to stop the real threat to our good way of life. John McCain and his cohorts are the reason we are facing the destruction of this country like we've never seen. McCain and his cadre politically have to go!

“McCain said. “There is no doubt in my mind America’s a right of center nation “

And THAT must just make him crazy, since he hates ‘right of center’

How soon we forget:

“This kind of rhetoric, I think, is not helpful in educating and helping the American people make a choice,” McCain said on “The Early Show” on CBS. “You know, it’s the most bitter and partisan campaign that I’ve ever observed. I think it’s because both parties are going to their bases rather than going to the middle. I regret it.”[snip]

THis may give you a clue as to where the McCain Supporters come from:

[snip] Mar. 2004 Surveys earlier this year showed that many of the people who supported Howard Dean’s insurgent candidacy for the Democratic nomination were the same “McCainiacs” who helped McCain win the 2000 Republican primary in New Hampshire against Bush.
