"If an officer sees a bulge in a pocket, he can stop and frisk that person," said Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez. In Chicago, New York and elsewhere, police say these stop-and-frisk searches make the streets safer by disarming thugs. "If this [ban] is overturned, we think there would be an increase in violence," Alvarez said.
Which of course they can still do if guns are legal, as long as they have reasonalbe cause to stop them in the first place. And they can still be arrested if they don't have a CCW permit, and charged with multiple Federal felonies if they have criminal records.

And if it is the more likely bag of pot, or perhaps in the not so distant future, a couple of gold coins, they can confiscate the lot and put the person in jail.

Everyone carrying a concealed weapon should have a CCW permit on them. If an officer approaches you all you have to do is show him/her your CCW permit. They can not arrest you unless you are carrying in a place that has been legally posted as a weapons free zone.
