Looks like she should add aome meat to her diet.
No doubt a white, guilt-ridden Obama voter, one of the most self-destructive and just plain stupid types among us.
Maybe she should just have bars installed on her doors and windows to make it more multiculturalism.
“She could move to Oakland, CA with all those liberal white pioneers who left quickly and were scared sh*tless.”
Would you have a link to an article on that? I’m not disputing you, having been there many times, it just looks like a great read (and a great lesson).
I will have to search around. A woman write an op-ed in SF Chron newspaper about moving to Oakland. Typical delusional liberal. She quickly realized she made a big mistake. She decided to move
Thanks - it sounds like a hysterical story. Some for those who bought $400k+ condos ‘downtown’ to live the nightlife that was to come. But they quickly find out that one step outside the gates puts them in mortal danger...and they’re trapped there, unable to find people stupid enough to buy it from them.
Are you serious? They put ritzy condos in dowtown Oakland? LOL! Same stuff in Florida in some cities. The condos are now fairly worthless. People thought it would be hip to live downtown.
There are plenty of places that she could walk her ‘talk.’
“They put ritzy condos in dowtown Oakland?”
Probably, but I’m not sure - but I do know that they were put in dumpy areas of cities all over the country...and speculators bought them up in droves, expecting millionaire baby boomers to all move in (which they didn’t, because they didn’t want to live there...and they were broke).
What you said about “fragile treasure” strikes a chord. I knew a young actress, a quite attractive woman of Hispanic descent (so it’s not just white people) who was talking to me about some Native American man that she had run across and she was waxing poetic about how Amerindians just have this “spiritual vibe” to them and how different it was to be in his presence vs. I guess a white person or even Hispanic?
All I know is that I had to try hard to not react to what she was saying. It could be that it was just THIS individual’s charisma but the way she described it in racial terms made me uncomfortable, because it seemed like she had been watching too many movies, as opposed to investing in this other person as a person.
That, minus some of the spiritual stuff (though not always! Numinousness abounds!) is how I see a lot of liberals talk about diversity or that black homeless guy they talked to in Ann Arbor.
Since I’m mixed race myself, I grew up around all kinds so I guess I never treated anyone as “The Other” at least not for very long.
Ape, who was never much for political correctness!
Tell her to move.
I was teasing you! Although I do have a molu....

Just thought I would clarify that I wrote the blog to see what others thought. You will see from my blog post -- if you read it -- that it was not actually an issue I considered when I moved to North Seattle, but is obviously an issue that concerns a number of other people. I still love my neighborhood and have no desire to leave!
Anyway, thanks for the good times.
“Is North Seattle too...Homogenous? (Seattle liberal worries that her neighborhood is too white)”
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! The HORRORS of homogeny!!!!!!
Some friend, huh?

Susie, I read the blog post in full. It is the fact that you considered it an issue at all that is disheartening, particularly since it represents the mindset of so many other Seattleites (many of my own North Seattle friends among them). Perhaps you aren't responsible for the catchy headline that was used on the P-I's front page, which read "Is North Seattle too...um...white?" Yet that was the entire premise of your post.
As you said, it was not an issue you considered when you moved to North Seattle; but when that "issue" was raised to you, it concerned you enough that you decided to investigate. When you found statistics confirming that there are a lot of white people in North Seattle, you described it as "a wakeup call". That phrasing says something about your mindset. You say you're just posing a question, but the question is vile, and you seem all too accepting of the premise behind it. Almost the entire post is presented from the fashionably racist standpoint--generally unquestioned among liberals--that there is an inherent good in reducing the proportion of white people in any given circumstance. Can you imagine yourself writing a similar article about any not-so-white neighborhood (Susie Rantz of the Seattle P-I asks: Is the Central District too...um...BLACK????)
Seriously, Susie...why entertain that type of thinking?
I responded to your post (above) but failed to ping you to it. My mistake.
parsy, who may move back into his molu
