And many people who love to try to shut up Christians with that verse conveniently leave this out:
Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. (Mark 13:29, 30)
That was written 2,000 years.
I think it foolish for people to read end times predicting into every natural disaster that happens.
I find it foolish, and faulty theology. It erodes the credibility of the Christian message.
Paul wrote and admonished those early Christians who were doing the same thing. They were sitting around and not working as they assumed the end was imminent.
