Gov. Charlie Crist, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, told The Palm Beach Post editorial board on Friday that, unlike many Republicans in Washington, he didnt think President Obama should scrap his health care reform proposal:
There may be parts of it that you dont have to scrap. There are three parts of it that I would like to see scrapped: It would raise taxes significantly, it would raise rates significantly and it would take half-a-trillion dollars out of Medicare.
I think the real issue here, as it relates to health care, is that people want it to not cost so much and people want to have access to it. I think there is a consensus of agreement that the health care that is delivered in America is good. But its not easy to get it and its too expensive when you do get it.
Asked if there were any parts of the bill he liked, Crist said:
I dont think a whole lot. Watching the discussion yesterday (Thursday) you get a chance to sort of see more of it be ferreted out. You know, Im the kind of guy Im pragmatic. The stimulus is a great example. We needed the money. Every other Republican governor took it, too. I was just maybe a little more honest and straight forward about it. Well, shame on me for being honest. But, you know, as it relates to health care, if there are good ideas, Im willing to look at them. And I would take that same approach to any issue in Washington.
Asked again if there were any parts he liked he said:
Not at present. No.
Not one good idea?
There may be. There may be. You know, Im pretty focused on Florida right now. I mean, after the session Ill be more focused on the issues in Washington. But Ive got to do my first job first.
We have Marco Rubio who used the credit card given to him by FL GOP for personal use that he reimbursed and paid for his personal expenses out of his own funds when the bills came due. Rubio is opposed to the current healthcare bills of the Democrats and believes the bills should be scrapped and start over.
On the hand we have Gov Crist who is still playing up to Obama when he was interviewed by the Palm Coast Editorial Board by saying the Democrats shouldn't scrap their healthcare plans but it gets better in the interview as he can think of nothing good about them.
Let's see who I would back -- one candidate paid for all of his personal expenses on the GOP credit card and is against Obamacare and the other candidate didn't use a FL GOP credit card because as Governor, he expects his aides to pick up the tab. He doesn't pay for his own way and supports Obamacare but doesn't know why.
My recommendation for Florida Senator, Marco Rubio hands down!
The only thing Charlie Crist knows about is tanning salons.
Can you ping the FL Freepers? They need to see what Crist told the Palm Beach Post editorial board about Obamacare! :)
ROFLOL!!! And he knows those well!
I think the tanning bed or retroviral drugs may have gotten to Charlie’s “brain.”
Charlie is a lousy judge of character - he loves Obama like McCain. Charlie’s was also GOOD friends with Scott Rothstein who is in jail for stealing $1.2 billion in a pozi scheme. Crist’s “wife” was married to the guy who owned the jet Rothstein used to flee the country to Morocco and then came back.
CC’s replies make no sense at all!
Can you believe those replies? I don’t know who his advisors are but he is pounding a stake into his campaign if he intends to run as a Republican.
No conservative Republican would give an interview like this.
Certainly failing to focus on issues in Senate race!
LOL! I love the tanning bed comment!
Cannot believe he was dumb enough to say this — arrogance and you are correct he is lacking in judge of character.
When I first saw this when I was doing some reserch this morning, I couldn’t believe it. Then went to a basketball game with my son this afternoon and decided it needed posted tonight! People need to know what their Governor is saying! If I was on the editorial board, I would have been going “what did he just say?” :)
Juan McCain will campaign for this well-tanned RINO.
It doesn’t make any sense the campaign that Crist is running — does he want to lose? Playing up to Obama earlier on a visit and now this.
Heck they’d make more taxing nail salons than tanning salons. Nail salons out number bars in Memphis!

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Crist is going for a Tanning Salon exemption. Out with him. He is AWFUL!
Sounds like it, a RINO.
