She is making the claim that the 15% ("large number") of voluntees who are women is the reason we don't have a military draft?

They either fly the pregnant women off the Carriers or drop them in port. I wonder if the Subs will have to surface or put in to offload their preggies?

So now the Navy guy gets married and spends months on board the sub and his new wife is going to react how?

So says another “expert” who learned all she knows about the military from watching Star Trek, and hasn’t spent a day on a submarine.

Man... putting females on a sub is like putting a bunch of cats in a bag.

Only a liberal would think this is a good idea. How much is it going to cost the Navy to modify the Subs for women? Liberalism is a mental disorder..

The last function performed by the Feds that I respected was maintaining our armed forces. If they are going to ruin that with social experimentation and underfunding, then that will mean to me that the covenant between me and the Government created by our founding fathers, codified in the US Constitution no longer binding. (at least on me). Waiting for the big split. Were is the exit?

“Navy smart to sink sexism”

Wow.

Orwellian.

Sexisim being having standards based upon sex rather than ONE standard for all.

She probably thinks the term “hot-bunking” refers to dorm sex.

Where to begin? I would like to know where the writer gets her “hundreds of women” joining the fighting ranks assertion from regarding both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars? There were certainly several women who dressed as men to participate, but hardly hundreds. Most of the women who did this wanted to join their husbands or boyfriends on the battlefield. Once they were discovered, usually at the infirmary, they were promptly given women’s clothing and told to leave. Interesting accounts of women during these wars exist and of the sacrifice and support they gave their husbands which shows them to have acted selflessly and with heroism. This does not mean that women should join the military and fight with men. Placing females amongst men in a submarine is not only lethal but immoral. What kind of argument does this author pose when she tries to support it by threatening an impending draft if women did not serve in the military? Is this not an example of a circular argument which is a logical fallacy?

As best I can tell, aboard a sub, any member of the crew can sink the vessel and kill everyone aboard.

The evidence will be at the bottom of the ocean when the inevitable male female/triangle/homosexual relation results in a crazed crew member sinking the sub with all hands..

Damn the eyes of the Immoral Faux Admirals that for the sake of their next promotion and acceptance in the “Right Circles” in Washington will knowingly allow this to occur..

America’s Modern GQ, PC Pretty Boy Generals and Admirals for whom Victory is not an option will be the rumination of the US Military.. Betraying the tradition of excellence and courage that goes back to the beginning of this nation.

At least Benidict Arnold had the Guts to be a traitor and openly change sides. These worthless sacks lack even that degree of courage or Honor.

More idiocy from the social engineers.

I hope they're around to accept responsibility for their policies when the wheels come off.

I live right next to Fort Knox Ky and its almost automatic when you see a female in uniform you see an expectant mother. I really wonder how they will fit all those female sailors in the subs. It is after all common knowledge that every female in the military counts as a half soldier just like female half cops. Every time things go bad they call in male backup.

Yeah Bonnie, roger that, IDIOT! Like many FReepers, I’m ex-Navy, was on two aircraft carriers and one destroyer and while the carriers are literally floating cities, the quarters are CLOSE and privacy? You’re still stacked in there.

We have some sub drivers on FR, they know...

This idiot is on one of the reasons for the death of Newspapers. Her stupidity is truly breathtaking. She has demonstrated that she doesn't just not understand the role of the military but also doesn't understand ships and especially submarines. The woman thinks the purpose of the military is to engage in social policy and not protect the country. This is stupidity at level so profound that it can literally kill you. She's as dumb as a box of rocks.

Women on submarines...here are my questions:

1. Will there by gynocologists on board?

2. Will the medics exam table be fitted with stirrups?

3. Will the sub's sewage system handle "pads"?

4. If she "starts" in her sleep, will her 'hot bunk' partner have to sleep in the mess?

5. Will the commander feel ok about radioing HQ that they must break off the mission to deliver a preggie to the surface?

6. How will the 7-day cycle of bloating and moodiness effect the rest of the crew in such close quarters?

7. If they make "accomdations" for women, how will it be divided? Half women, half men?

8. If the gender ratio changes, will the sub have to return to port each time for a sleeping quarters retrofit?

9. Will the "heads" be co-ed?

10. How will the "submarinettes" husbands feel about her on 6-month deployment with all those guys in close quarters?

Just a few questions that occured to me; they may be moot in some cases as the closest I've see a submarine is in the movies, but inquring minds want to know.
