He may be a Noob, but he’s right. Bush is no genius. Reagan however, who attended Eureka college in California, is another matter.

"bama got the bounce he expected from the Healthcare Summit. Unfortunately for him, it was a downward bounce."

Dead cat bounce...on wet cement.

Reagan’s great strength was not only his communications skill, but his ability to select first rate people in his Cabinet. They were all-stars. Compare Reagan’s pick for Secretary of Treasury, Don Regan, to GWB’s picks, Hank Paulson or John Snow.

Gallup has Obama down big today, so I guess you owe Mr. G. an apology.

Gallup

It is just common courtesy to post a link when referencing something, especially when stating it as fact.

I thought you said you were tracking him every day.

Really?? When was that?

bullcrap. Bush was a fine President. Better than any of his opponents, and depending on your definition of “genius”, one could argue he was that, too.

I didn’t agree, and in fact vehemently DISAGREED with, some of what Bush did (CFR & TARP most prominently)...but he is a decent man who cut taxes, killed terrorists, and put two good men on the SCOTUS.

Please enlighten us as to how you know that "Bush was no genius."

According to Karl Rove, Bush read as many as 80 books in a year. Laura has described him as an avid reader as well. And he has also been described as a "quick study."

btw, please tell us how one gets a Harvard MBA if one is stupid.

(The whole argument is leftist propaganda, btw, and very revealing about your lack of information).

President Bush is also very bright, as well as being decent and courageous.

These guys must be relying on the MSM IQ tests that reveal algor to be brilliant, and John Kerry verging on genius. ;)

I've heard that this is a statistical “tipping point”. I plan on calling my (Democrat) senators and congressman on Monday to congratulate them on the abysmal mess they and Obama have made. Their offices don't seem to be taking calls today.

What happens is now there are lots of people who strongly disapprove (and hence are likely to voice their criticism) and few strong approvers to defend him against criticism.

If such a jump does occur, it won’t indicate that Ø’s “true” favorability rating has improved. Rather, it will just be another demonstration that 3-day averages based on relatively small samples can sometimes give very misleading pictures.

Also keep in mind variances coming from the day of the week. That's why I keep saying to ignore the day-to-day statistical noise and focus on the weekly average and the long-term trend. The long-term trend is down. Slowly but surely, he's going down.

Wow! He read 80 books in a year! Woah, that’s great! I heard “Hop on Pop” is a great read.

Too bad he didn’t read anything on how not spend the country into bankruptcy. Like it or not, he set the table for what Obama is doing now.

You may be in awe of those with a Harvard MBA, but Reagan proved a Bachelors degree at Eureka college is enough to be president.

Harriett Miers, Amnesty, Spending....and the spending was out of control, setting the table for what Obama is doing today.

He, like his dad, was horrible for the Republican brand.

Guess you’re still recovering :)

Amnesty was a mistake, too, I'll grant that.

The spending, though, was NOTHING like what Hussein is doing. "Setting the table"? Pshaw. The jerk in the WH now is exceeding Bush by ten-fold. Bush never dreamed of this kind of discretionary spending. And to say he did is ridiculous.

Even the TARP, at the end of his Presidency, was small in comparison. Remember: he only authorized half the $700B, with the other half put in reserve "in case" it were truly needed....and Hussein asked for that money right off the bat.

So one of Bush's worst mistakes (IMO) had MORE SAFEGUARDS AGAINST ABUSE than Hussein's first "achievement" regarding the economy: the "stimulus".

I won't sit around and bash Bush--I'll discuss my honest differences about him. OTOH, there are some who perpetually see the glass as half-empty, yet cannot point to a single pure entity that governs in the perfect way.

One hates to rain on today’s joyous FReeper parade, but...

Unfortunately you are right. This bounce may be part of a longer term trend but it is, as you point out, partly and maybe mostly just sampling noise.

But you got me thinking so I went back and had a look at the Presidential Approval Index values all the way back to January 2009. I looked for days when the index made a major jump. That turned out to be a jump of plus/minus 5 or 6. Rare but it happened by my count a total of 7 times. We have just seen the last two of these in the last week or so. The index jumped from -11 to -17 and a few days later we saw the most recent jump from -15 to -20. Those were big jumps and they were close together.

For the first 5 cases we can see how the polling went post-big-jump. In every single case the big-jump turned out to be a temporary bump and the Index returned within a few days to it's pre-big-jump value. Every single time.

So in the case of this latest "bumps", the index could be expected to return to -15 within a few days and to -11 a bit later. I expect history will repeat itself and that will happen. But we are well above the -11 value right now so this may be the exception.

OTOH, I think Obama is continuing to sink. Slowly. Slower than I would like but sinking nevertheless.

Elitists and libs have a whole new definition of I.Q.

Regular, normal people like Pres. Bush and Sarah who don’t ‘put on airs’ as my aunt used to say cannot possibly have high I.Q.s by their standard.
