If I was in Congress, and had been invited to Barack Obama's six hour socialized health care marathon today, my participation could have been concluded in thirty seconds.
Here's the statement I would have made:
In consideration of the fact that no power over health care is enumerated in the Constitution of the United States, the sacred document that every person in this room has sworn to uphold and defend, I emphatically vote NO on any plans any of you have in this area.
Any more talk about this is a complete waste of valuable time that we could be using to do our real job, which is to protect the American people's rights to life, liberty, and private property.
Come talk to me when you are ready to honor your oath and support bills that immediately terminate all federal government involvement in areas over which we have no lawful jurisdiction.
Good day.
Which would have been followed immediately by my departure.
They would blink, cough, and go back to what they were doing, knowing that there is no penalty for violating the Constitution (one of Patrick Henry's chief complaints about the document).
Any wasted time in washington is good for the country.
I understand the sentiment. But the problem isn’t just what they are doing to us in Washington, unconstitutionally. It is that they are failing to do what they were actually sent there to do, as I said in my statement. Another American child is being brutally murdered in the womb on average every twenty four seconds, our borders remain porous, our liberties continue to be trampled, our economic freedom strangled.
There’s plenty to do that is within the compass of the constitutional oath, but they’re too busy pushing socialism for that.
Interesting point.
.
.
And this to the rest...
Excellent.
Pass 'em around amoung friends, liberals, and the internet.
The only penalty is not being re-elected. The problem we've had for the longest time is an uneducated/complacent/apathetic voter.
Idea for a billboard:
"Unemployed? Depressed? Angry?
Don't Beat Your Wife...
Beat A Democrat..."
VOTE
Any wasted time in washington is good for the country.
The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets. - Will Rogers
Then I would have voted for you.
CA....
Will Rogers didn't foresee subsidized abortion
” Will Rogers didn’t foresee subsidized abortion “
Unnnnnnnhhh...too right...how could he though, I guess? That kind of evil wasn’t even dreamed about then...
Tell that to Justice Breyer, Souter, Ginsburg, or Stevens. Tell that to any President in his second term. It's not enough.
Those things that you talk about don’t take much time - just the right people. Right now all the time in the world wouldn’t get you what you want in DC.
I know.
Well, that would be one anyway. It’s a start.
Well I would like to see the “treason” term applied to those who have thrown the Constitution under the bus, but we live in a society now that abuses the judicial system and uses it as a weapon against the opposition. Reps would hang Dems, Dems would hang Reps...
A corrupt system of justice in a land is the by-product, natural consequence, and/or judgment of God on a nation for sin and the turning of ones back against a Holy, Righteous God according to the Scriptures.
If we are really serious about getting back to where we were in this nation, purging the sin from the land and from the hearts of the citizens is needed.
