But today didn’t go well and only the hyper-political junkies like us are watching after the debacle of this morning so he doesn’t have anywhere near the political cover for reconcilliation that he wanted.
That's exactly right! The Pubbies have said that the issues at hand and they could come to some reasonable agreements in a step-by-step start over fashion. But they also state that this bill is too expensive and, even worse, more intrusive. But in the end the Pubbies were quietly forceful, well informed and courteous and thus took out the wind in the sails of reconciliation. Because if the line by the Dems and the MSM and pundits is that there are issues that both parties agree to then this meeting shot down a haphazard, forceful and arrogant use of reconciliation.
Now we see a game of chicken. Either Reid has 50 or he does not. Either Queen 9% Nancy has 217 or she does not. I’m betting not, or else they wouldn’t have to put on this Kabuki Theater.
