WASHINGTON In D.C. political circles, Texas Rep. Ron Paul is the quirky icon of libertarian conservatism, a cult figure on American college campuses with a national following large enough to help him capture the presidential poll at the nation's pre-eminent conservative action conference last weekend.
But while Paul basks in the applause of conservatives at a Washington hotel, he can't afford to ignore the three self-described conservatives who are assailing his conservative credentials back at home.
He's as bad as the rest of them, says Gerald Wall, one of three Republicans challenging the incumbent in the March 2 GOP primary.
Paul, 74, charges Wall, is a career politician who ignores the wishes of voters back home, a conservative poseur who doesn't walk the walk when it comes to pork-barrel spending.

Yeah, it’s amazing how the man who follows the Constitution more closely than any other is demonized more than all the Rinos combined. It’s sad. I was much like most of those on here with regards to foreign policy before, but I never disrespected Dr. Paul, even when I disagreed with him. Now I pretty much agree with him and it just makes you feel hopeless than people attack him with more vitriol than they attack socialists. I put this question to anyone who attacks him: Point by point, who in Congress adheres to the Constitution as much as Dr. Paul?
There’s nothing to gain by treating him the way he is treated on here, but much to lose by replacing him with someone who “interprets” the Constitution.
You poor thing...
I saw that RP won the CPAC straw poll for president in 2012. I was really freaked out by that. I though CPAC was for normal people.

A FReeper who was there said that there was a large and energetic group of students who were stuffing the ballot box for Paul at CPAC
You’re right. You should take a stand right now. Leave FR on principle because, by gosh, Dr. Paul is just not respected here (and never will be).
A FReeper who was there said that there was a large and energetic group of students who were stuffing the ballot box for Paul at CPAC.
There, Popell found a young man sporting red hair, wearing an "End the Fed" shirt and leather jacket, who was drunkenly yelling "end the fed" over the sound of the auction announcer.
I don’t doubt it.
I will leave when Jim Robinson tells me too. Until then, I’ll donate at every drive and sometimes in between. You can discourage me, attack me, and do whatever other thing that makes you feel good for going after someone who disagrees with you.
Tell me, do you want someone who believes that the Constitution should be amended to say that life begins at the moment of conception, who gave practically my last dime to Terri Schiavo’s cause and wrote ABC, CBS, NBC etc. several times a day pointing out their bias, who gives money to more Christian causes that I can name, who wants the gov’t to be limited because it has endowed itself to be a god, among other reasons. Etc. etc. I don’t claim to be a great Christian, I just claim to try to be. But I let others be who they are.
If people like me are not welcome here by people like you, then that is a sad thing indeed.
Then you're as much of a nutjob at Ron Paul
RE: #49
It is considered proper posting etiquette on FR that when you mention someone in your thread you should ping them to it.
Feel sorry for what used to be a Republic, but because of Conservatives who become liberals when they get to d.c., it’s not that anymore. It’s not even a monarchy. It’s the Soviet Union but the “light” version.
You can hit me with sarcasm and leftist style disdain all day. I won’t lie, it’s discouraging. BUT, while I can’t tell you what I do, I’ll tell you that I live with the fed gov’t pointing directly at me all day every day. What is happening in my job will be happening to you and everyone else’s soon if we disrespect and push out people who stand up to the Constitution. I hope you never have to feel what that feels like, but Mr. O in the White House is doing everything he can to make it so.
Oh, sorry. I will do so in the future. Sorry Jim, I’m still not great at posting after mostly just reading for years.
It’s just a courtesy. Not like you were saying anything wrong about him.
I thought it wasn’t considered proper etiquette to personally attack people?
Tis the case on the religion forum. In the open...thick skin my FRiend.
Gotcha - (At least you posted Stan and Ollie, and I have to admit it was funny!)
I did almost get fired once for having FR as my homepage at work. But the guy who almost got me fired got fired later so it worked out in the end...
Yea, in the same way that Fred Phelps follows the bible more closely than any other.
Fred Phelps doesn’t follow the Bible. He “interprets” it. He treats it like an activist judge.
