AUSTIN A bent to conservatism and family makes Hispanics a promising pool of votes for Republicans, but the party's targeting of illegal immigrants has withered its attraction.
Regardless, Gov. Rick Perry has fared relatively well, perhaps because of his anti-Washington rhetoric and his careful immigration stance, a recent poll indicates.

I work in the same building as Telemundo, they are owned by NBC, so we know the political bent will be Leftist.
So why'd they overwhelmingly vote for 0bama, by far the most left wing candidate for president this country has ever seen, especially since McCain was the guy that pushed amnesty more than anyone else?
And blacks are also generally quite conservative in most views. But the left has purchased black votes for 60 years and has been doing the same with illegals. Moreover, if “hispanics” were so conservative, why would the left be so keen on tuning them into citizens and VOTERS??
I would be offended at that suggestion.
No Spanish speaking Limbaugh type? I would think that a greater proportion of legal, Spanish speaking immigrants have learned or are learning to speak English, than the illegal group and why would we want to reach out to the illegal ones?
American Hispanics who are conservative really don’t need anyone to speak for them any more than I need someone to speak for me. I’m an American first and foremost. If someone comes along and tells me that they’ll stand up for “German Americans”, I’ll likely tell them to shove it.

Perry has a “careful” immigration stance? That’s what amnesty is called these days?

Well maybe while the Hispanics that you refer to are waiting for a spanish speaking MSM media outlet to emerge, or a Spanish speaking Limbaugh, you could suggest to them that while they live in America they could learn English and join the rest of the English speaking Americans.
Just a thought!

I don’t know how many times I’ve said that the moron Republicans need to make a strong distinction between Hispanic Americans and illegals. George Bush had eight years to do it, and it was epic fail.
Here we go again about the “conservative” Hispanic. They might not like gay marriage but when push comes to shove they will vote for whever promises the most freebies.
Sounds like a great opportunity for an up-and-coming radio talk show host who speaks Spanish.
and if the GOP had a brain and actually mentioned the homosexual problem we have then we’d get even more hispanics voting for the GOP.
instead we have a GOP with no guts and are too afraid of even mentioning the homosexual problem of abortion.
If anyone from the GOP is reading this then get a grip and start mentioning social issues and why the homosexuals should not be helped in their agenda. Staying silent or saying the Govt has no right in the issue is only helping them and it makes you no conservative what so ever
mention the homosexuals and they the hispanics and blacks will agree with us and yet the GOP says nothing
