Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.
It sounds VERY familiar, vintage Goldwater, and I LOVE it! Thanks for posting it!
Good on you, Lakeshark! Well put!
I’ve replied to emotional ranter dcwusmc without using caps....lol.
Both Hannity and Rush have been carrying water for the Pubbies for so long they wouldn’t know the Constitution if it came up and slapped them in the face, ESPECIALLY Hannity and his crony, Bob Beckel. El Rushbo does have some good stuff to say on occasion, but I will not listen to or watch Hannity for anything.
Well to be honest they can all take a flying leap.Bet none of them lost money like we did and they do have their jobs.Bet they didn’t lose their home-we did.
It's Goldwater.I went to New York in 1964 with YAF in its project to draft Goldwater.
I went door to door for Goldwater at a time when America preferred a six-trillion-dollar War on Poverty, Medicare, and a mission to insure defeat in Vietnam.
When March, 1968, came around, Lyndon Baines Johnson was happy to have been a one-term president, a milepost on the Road to Reagan.
And it was Reagan who had so distinguished himself by putting his principles first, and leading, first, the Republican Party, and finally, the nation, in its new prosperity, its victory in the Cold War, its renaissance of our original Free Republic.
We are doing this.
Oh, where to begin? Gee, principles are what I talk about MOST on here, as well as every other site I go to. Principles are what a whole lot of “Party uber alles” clowns laugh at a lot here at FR. It’s as if the *R* after someone’s name is some magical talisman that will make a McLame or a Romney or JulieAnnie drive us off the cliff at only 95 MPH, compared to Obambi’s 100 MPH. It’s the “pragmatists” who are killing this country by not demanding that their *R* reps actually stand for something, instead of falling for anything. And, unless somehow they resist the temptation, however unlikely that is, it’s going to be the republicans in the Congress who will give us Obamacare after their “summit” which is tomorrow if I recall. Because they have no spines. If they did, they’d boycott that so called summit but now they have McLame going and he’s the biggest compromiser of them all.
You are exactly correct, unfortunately, and we are all going to suffer for it. The main question I have is whether this republic CAN yet be saved at the ballot box or will we have to open the next box-—which will NOT be the jury box or the soap box. Given the mindset of way too many posters here, I fear that we will have to open it. If the Republic actually CAN be saved. If it is lost, however, there will yet be some of us who’ll be able to look others square in the eye and say that we did everything that COULD be done to save her. However, we are right now being defeated by those who have no principles, only party.
Barry Goldwater was a vastly underrated man, but one who had more principles in his little finger than most republicans have in their whole bodies, it seems. On the national level, I can only think of fewer than a dozen that I could favorably compare to him. And, though I had some issues with Reagan, there is one thing I can say with full assurance, after the Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter years, Ronald Reagan made me proud to still be wearing that uniform. He was able to put the honor and pride back into serving again, unlike those that sandwiched him, but especially Carter.
Beck is the best I have seen on TV in who can connect with audience. He is so natural and his command of issues without using a teleprompter is impressive. I expect his star has much further to rise.
That is because O’Reilly has the so many good looking babes on his show and most of them seem to also have a brain.
We just observed the birthday of one, George Washington.
He counciled to eschew party, yet here we are.
The very best of them know to transcend the petty for the sublime, and that America at its best has presented the rare and precious freedom in a long world history of tyranny.
Hence the recurring allusions to "eternal vigilance" and "the blood of tyrants."
We have been sending a steady message of support to those who stand strong, and a quick rebuke to those sinking back into the muck.
Called Mike Pence today. But Kyl hid behind twenty rings and a machine.
Stand and deliver.
Where did I say I was playing the “he said, she said.” I’m just speaking the truth.
You cannot possibly deny that after listening to Rush yesterday that these were remarks directed towards Beck.
Perhaps.. But I think Beck is talking about Republican Leadership. The last two Republican Presidents were both RINOs when it came to a wide variety of issues. The chairman of the RNC keeps talking about the big tent.
When the Republican party gets into power, the real conservatives of the party are scared to death to stand up to the RINOs with the real power. The end result is that we always end up with Democrat-Lite and eventually get voted back out of office.
Sarah Palin told Bill O’Reilly a few weeks ago regarding a 3rd party. I am paraphrasing a bit.
Palin: I am not for a 3rd Party, unless, the GOP does not listen to the People. So Palin left it open, with regard to a 3rd Party, same as Beck, to put great pressure on the GOP Elites.
Glen gets the Message, we need to get the facts.
Yes I can, because I don't have your imagination but I did get the joke.
Looks like you didn't get it as you seem to have a soap opera/gossip imagination and no sense of humor.
The fact that this occupies such a large and important part of your existence is scary.
There are a lot of great hobbies out there...maybe get out and meet some new friends...maybe it's cabin fever.
But there's no need to "have a cow" about it.
You are correct, there are many, including on this board that would not accept 40% across the board reductions in Soc. Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Education, and a host of other programs not spelled out in the Constitution.
To save the Republic we need massive cuts to the Federal Budgets, and sadly, very few people would be willing to take the pain necessary. They just want to talk about the GOP and how bad the democrats are, and 3rd parties.
Everyone acknowledges that the Democrats and Obama are much worse than the GOP, but, the real question is, are there any Republican Politicians willing to stake their career by telling the public the truth, that we are broke as a nation.
I believe we will be forced to cut those budgets, not by our politicians, but, by a bankrupt government.
I agree about your “preaching to a Stone Wall” argument, we as a nation are not ready to take the medicine of massive budget cuts, that are necessary.
We can defeat the Marxists, and hold the GOP accountable by electing Constitutional Conservatives.
What Beck is saying is that to cut the Federal Budget by 1.5 to 2 trillion will mean a lot of pain for everyone. The Old, Traditional Politicians will not address this problem.
There are very few politicians willing to address this massive problem.
Beck says, on SPENDING, AND ADDING TO SOCIAL PROGRAMS, there are similarities between the 2 parties. And since spennding is our biggest problem right now, he is correct.
The People need to be convinced, the pain that we have to take to address the 100 trillion in liabilities we have accumulated. There are very few politicians that are ready to take that on.
We are saying, elect, strong Fiscal Conservatives, that will educate the public, and support Massive Spending Cuts to all Budgets.
That needs to be the focus, not just defeating the Democrats.
We can walk and chew gum at the same time.
