The son of a leading Hamas figure, who famously converted to Christianity, served for over a decade as the Shin Bet security service's most valuable source in the militant organization's leadership, Haaretz has learned.
Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a Hamas founder and one of its leaders in the West Bank. The intelligence he supplied Israel led to the exposure of a number of terrorist cells, and to the prevention of dozens of suicide bombings and assassination attempts on Israeli figures.

During the second intifada, intelligence Yousef supplied led to the arrests of a number of high-ranking Palestinian figures responsible for planning deadly suicide bombings. These included Ibrahim Hamid (a Hamas military commander in the West Bank, Marwan Barghouti (founder of the Fatah-linked Tanzim militia) and Abdullah Barghouti (a Hamas bomb-maker with no close relation to the Fatah figure). Yousef was also responsible for thwarting Israel's plan to assassinate his father.
"I wish I were in Gaza now," Yousef said by phone from California, "I would put on an army uniform and join Israel's special forces in order to liberate Gilad Shalit. If I were there, I could help. We wasted so many years with investigations and arrests to capture the very terrorists that they now want to release in return for Shalit. That must not be done."

His former handler, who no longer serves with the security service, says Yousef collaborated with Israel because he wanted to save lives.
"So many people owe him their life and don't even know it," said the handler, named in Yousef's book as Captain Loai. "People who did a lot less were awarded the Israel Security Prize. He certainly deserves it."

If I'm not mistaken he exposed himself a long while back. I believe that happened when he revealed he was a Christian, and that was quite a revelation back then... :-)
I just listened to another Islamic terrorist, a few days ago on a radio interview who also became a Christian and he was connected to high positions within the Islamic terrorists movement.

Probably using the excuse that he was “retired”. So some whackjob would still track him down to settle scores. In comparison, does the US have laws prohibiting exposing operatives of the US intel community? Ooops, silly me, I forget! The current administration would have no qualms selling them down the river for political “gain”, apologize for America, yada gabba hey!

He's not trying to hide it in public now... but from what I heard about him before, apparently it was known in the terrorist circles over there that he was a Christian before, too... but he didn't make a big deal out of it as his father was an important leader, and it probably did make a difference that his father was that important leader.
So, he managed to get by with it, even with him being known over there in the terrorist circles, back then, too.
If I'm not mistaken (and sometimes I do get mixed up with some of these former terrorists who have now become Bible-believing Christians), this may have been the guy who was also a driver for Arafat and he says that he actually talked to Arafat about Christianity (in other words, gave Arafat the "Gospel Message" from Scripture)... :-)
Now, you'll have to excuse me if it wasn't this particular guy, but I think it was. Nonetheless (and I'll check up on it), there was definitely someone who was Arafat's driver (a trusted driver, to keep Arafat safe) who did witness to Arafat about becoming a Christian. It sounds unbelievable, but it did happen.
Arafat wasn’t a religous Muslim, presumably the leader of Hamas is. If a Muslim converts to Christianity it’s the duty of Muslims, and especially of his family to kill him. I would be surprised that Arafat would allow the son of a Hamas leader to be his driver. But I could be wrong.
Aha, that must be that well-known "religion of peace" at work again.
I’ll have to look up the actual person who did that... but it was a former terrorist who is (and was) a Bible-believing Christian. This particular guy may not have been that one with Arafat (but I’ll see).
But, this particular guy in this article definitely was known to be a Christian among the close group who was around him and his father... without a doubt, according to his own Christian testimony that he has given.
And I agree that he would be a target, no doubt, but no one killed him — and with Christians, many have found themselves to have been protected by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in some fairly dangerous situations. It may be that he was under the protection of God, for such a time as this — right now, in which he can give his Christian testimony to the world, having lived in that kind of situation in the past.
It was after a chance encounter nine years ago with a British missionary that Mr Yousef began exploring Christianity.
He found it "exciting", he said, and began secretly studying the Bible, struck by the central tenet "love your enemies".

What better way to start the new year then to share with you a testimony of a son of a Hamas leader who has come to Christ and forsaken all to follow Him.
Today Fox News is reporting the story of Mosab Hassan Yousef, which also includes a video from August of 2008.
Yousef, 30, said he realized the true nature of Hamas and radical Islam during a stint in an Israeli prison. He renounced his Muslim faith, left his family behind in Ramallah and converted to Christianity.
"Islam is not the word of God," said Yousef. "If you want to be offended it's your problem. But you know something? Go study. Think for a second that I might be right. So wake up, look at your path, see where you're going. Are you really going to heaven with 72 virgins after you kill yourself and kill another 20 people?"
Yousef has sought asylum in the United States and now attends an evangelical Christian church on Barabbas Road in San Diego, Calif.
"You have to understand, I was never one of them. Although I helped my father and accompanied him, I was always opposed to the use of terror. Hamas members didn't like me. I didn't come to pray in the mosques, I hung around with strangers. They didn't like my leather jacket or even my jeans. They considered it going astray. But I helped my father and conducted his affairs because he's my father, not because he's a leader in Hamas. I'm not a Hamas activist who converted to Christianity. That's not the story. I wanted to help my father understand that harming innocent people is forbidden and through him perhaps to change other people's thinking."
In the article, it states that Yousef wrote the memoir himself — not the journalist — book is “Son of Hamas” — to be released next week. I’m ordering it and looking forward to reading it.
I guess the ‘journalist’ is a worthless fifth-columnist in every country. If this man is hurt, the traitors who published this should die.
It's the guy himself, who exposed himself... :-) And I commend him for doing that. But, he exposed himself a long while back, so it's nothing new "today" or even this year or even last year... it was before then.

I heard him speak at a Christian meeting and that's where I got the information that he spoke to Arafat about becoming a Christian. I know it's in print somewhere, but I would have to find that part of it, but here's his general story...

Arafat Once His ’Hero’

WEST BANK (ANS) -- Palestinian native Tass Saada ran away from home and joined the Fatah movement when he was just 17.
Once a member of the Fatah party, Tass Saada now sows 'Seeds of Hope' in Gaza and the West Bank
"I joined the Fatah movement, basically, because (Yassar) Arafat was my hero," Saada told Erick Stakelbeck, CBN News Terrorism Analyst in an interview with CBN News.
Israel's resounding victory over the surrounding Arab nations in the Six Day War of 1967 devastated young Tass. He was soon drawn to the militant views of Fatah founder and Saada family friend, Yasser Arafat.
"I used to sit right across from him and just stare at him, just mesmerized," said Saada. "He was such a charismatic character."
In the CBN News interview, Saada said he believed the Jews had stolen Palestinian land. He was determined to help Arafat and Fatah push Israel into the sea.
"Our training was specialized, basically, in intense, marine-type fighting skills," he recalled. "We used to call ourselves guerilla fighters, commando fighters."
Saada became a Fatah sniper, picking off and killing Israeli soldiers. His nickname was "Butcher."
"My job was to knock off whoever was the commander of the unit," he said.
Saada told CBN News he took part in bloody battles against the Israeli army. He even attempted to assassinate the Crown Prince of Jordan, who he saw as unfriendly to Palestinians.
But Saada his most prestigious job was as a personal driver for his hero: Arafat.
"Everybody knows I was a fierce driver," said Saada. "And so when it came a time and need for Arafat to be transported from one area of Jordan to the other, they called me to do that."
Saada told CBN News he eventually made his way to the United States to attend school. By that point, he had given up on waging violent jihad, but he still hated Jews.
He became a successful restaurant manager, married an American woman and had two children. But he was miserable -- living a fast lifestyle of mistresses and booze.
Until a longtime friend told him about Jesus Christ.
"He put the Bible in the middle, between the two of us. And I just got scared and I jumped away from the Bible," Saada recounted. "I said, 'I cannot touch that! It's got the name of God, the word of God in it!' He said, 'So you believe this is the word of God?' I said, 'Yes.'
"Why did I say 'yes,' when we as Muslims don't really believe that the Bible is valid as the word of God?"
He says he momentarily lost consciousness at that point.
"The next thing I know, I'm on my knees with my hands lifted up, inviting Jesus. And the rest is history."
When Tass told his Muslim family back in the Middle East of his conversion, his brother vowed to kill him, he told CBN News.
In the meantime, his Christian friend threw him for yet another loop.
"He said 'Tass, to have the peace that I have, you must love the Jew.'" remembered Saada. "I literally froze, turned around and looked at Charlie. Charlie knew how much I hated Jews."
Saada told CBN News he soon got past that lifelong hatred. He developed close friendships with Jews and began to look at Israel in a brand new light. His book, 'Once an Arafat Man' recounts his transformation.
"I don't believe in the two-state solution," Saada told CBN News. "I don't believe in that. Because I believe that land belongs to the Jews. It doesn't belong to us."
"But, on the other hand," he continued. "I believe that we have the right to live in that land, as is recorded in the Book of Ezekiel, where the Lord redivided the land among the Israelites and told them to give the foreigners living among them an equal share of the land."
Meanwhile, in its push to establish a Palestinian state, the Obama administration is counting on the Palestinian party known as Fatah to be Israel's partner for peace, Stakelbeck reports.
"But judging by a major conference held by the group in Bethlehem last month, President Obama's vision is a long way from being fulfilled," Stackelbeck says.
Stakelbeck added: "In Bethlehem, Fatah leaders reaffirmed their commitment to what they call 'armed resistance.' They refused to recognize Israel's status as a Jewish state. Fatah, which rules the West Bank, also restated its desire to take control of eastern Jerusalem and make it the capital of a Palestinian state."
These rigid views now sound all too familiar to Saada, says Stakelbeck.
Today, Saada spends much of his time in the West Bank and Gaza, helping provide modern necessities to Palestinians through his charitable organization, Seeds of Hope.
He says Muslims in the Middle East are turning to Christ in record numbers.
"Millions of Muslims around the earth -- especially the Arabs in Saudi Arabia, in Qatar," Saada marveled. "In all these 12 nations of Ishmael, all of these nations, there is so much conversion in that land."
CBN's Stakelbeck says that's why Saada is confident that peace will one day come to the region -- the kind of peace that politicians can never bring.
