On the plus side, I imagine a lot of the flying rats around here (Canada geese) are going to be starving because they can't get to the lawns to eat them. A few patches opened up over the last few days and the geese were all over them.
10-4 on that unsunken treasure..lol!
I hate it because I can only hike around the neighborhood for exercise, all the trails are snowbound with nasty sloppy, crusty snow.

I suggest Ice-a-potomus for the next one.
Then SNOWAPALOOZA !!!
The first two miles of my regular six mile walk are on a canal. It's been a while. If we get the wind they're talking about it will be a snow buried steeplechase.
Not looking forward to walking through the heel and Achilles tendon pain again.
Remember kids: If there’s less snow than usual, it’s because of Global Warming... and if there’s more snow than usual, it’s because of Global Warming affecting the climate... and if there’s the same amount of snow, then it’s proof that Republicans are lying to cover up the changes.
This storm just dumped about 4-5 inches here in south central Texas. (unusual) and took out some big limbs in my yard. The flakes were half dollar sized.
This might be worth keeping an eye on.
I think your recollection is off a bit. There was not that much “lake effect” in the ‘77 blizzard. It was snow laying on the frozen lake that got blown in by the winds. There had been several heavy snows before that just settled on the frozen lake and that is what did the damage. It was hard to measure actual snowfall due to the high winds but the closest estimate that the weather service could come up with was about a 4-5” GENERAL snowfall for the WNY area. As you know, once the lake is frozen that just about does away with the “lake effect”.
Ouch. Leaving March 5th to drive to Lake Placid then Stowe, VT to ski. Hope my plans don’t get derailed. . . but looks like there will be more than enough snow.
I realize we've all had it pretty good for the last 30 years, but I distinctly remember winters like this were routine mid to late fifties and early sixties. We all used to feel so sorry for the east coast. We'd sit around the black and white t.v. sets and listen like it was the end of the world for New York. Dad would say, “See, as bad as the summers are here, we don't have to go through all that.”
That looks like a sign warning “strong wind” that will blow your umbrella inside-out

Tsnownami.
well here’s the current report from Burlington VT at 5:10pm today-
some snow is coming down like gentle rain but it’s not sticking. the temp is 36deg.
no blizz up here
Blizzicane sounds like something off of the Dairy Queen menu
(PaMom looks both ways before posting)...
Shhh! I think this one misses the Burgh. If not...its been nice FREeepin’ with ya Clint...
The storm overall is going to be a nasty one with high winds and moderate to heavy snow. Power outages will occur, and travel will be very poor. This will be a long-duration storm that will last right into Saturday. Parts of the Laurel Highlands will end up with 2 feet of snow.
Out of all the cities, I think Philly will be hit the hardest, with Baltimore second, and Washington probably escaping with 1-3 inches of snow and high winds.
you thought
