Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth is putting to rest any notion that he is a "birther," a believer in the unsubstantiated theory that President Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen and, therefore, not eligible to be president of the United States.

From the CNN blog:
In his Monday news conference, Hayworth, who recently left a stint as a conservative radio talk show host, said his earlier comments about Obama's citizenship had been inspired by his time working in radio.
"I was talking in another context about what I was hearing on the radio," Hayworth said.
He added, "To bring up a topic and to talk about it is not the same as endorsing a point of view."

Here's the money quote from the story:
Hayworth was responding to Brown's query about comments he'd made in late January where he called on Obama personally to produce a birth certificate instead of relying on the State of Hawaii to do so.
For those of you who worship at the altar of JD Hayworth, let me explain what that last quote of his means, as you are probably too afraid to read between the lines. Hayworth is saying his radio comments was nothing more than some red meat for his listeners. He just said it to be "edgy". He just said it to get his radio audience excited; however, his comments were only for "radio world" and not the "real" world. Now that he's running for office, he has to be "serious" and quit sounding like a "loud-mouth right-wing shock jock".
In other words, he was just playing you. Of course, he's hoping that despite dropping you like a bag of dirt and leaving you at the alter, that you'll still give him your undying love with your vote. He knows you hate McCain with a passion and that there's probably nothing he can say or do to turn you off or on to McCain.
First, he has already stated that he will back McCain if McCain wins the nomination. Not something a confident candidate normally does. Now, he backtracks on his "birther" comments, basically saying you birthers are the nutbags and he was just "discussing the issue" and not actually endorsing it.
I'd say you Hayworth devotees are in for a long, bumpy ride.

>>>ANY ‘Anchor Baby’ that was born to anyone running across our border .. is eligible to be POTUS?
Yes.
The nonsense about a British father disqualification is just moving the goalposts when the “born in Kenya” business fizzled out.
Hayworth is smarter then I expected.
>>>Birtherism is a waste of resources better employed convincing the sheeple they made a serious mistake, to be corrected through the normal electoral process in 2010 and 2012.
As the issue has evolved, yes. The shrill fanaticism of the Birther is more then anything else apt to push voters back into Obama’s arms. We don’t need to be throwing him life-rings as he sinks.

I don’t think one could escape that endorsement fast enough. Weiner is a lunatic. He should be made to listen to his own show so he will quit.

Well, we really don’t know. But that is one of the main pillars in Barack Obama’s huge house of cards he has carefully constructed.

Heh. Obozo is a citizen. So is Schwartzneggar. It doens’t make them “Natural Born Citizens” and eligible for the Presidency!

I would prefer "I have no idea whether or not Ubanga is a natural born citizen of the United States because he has spent millions of dollars on lawyers to prevent a proper investigation into the matter," to saying flat out, with no evidence whatsoever and plenty of reasonable allegations to the contrary, that Ubanga "is a US citizen."I have to agree. He needs some new political consultants --

Good for JD, just proving hes just another politician. Palin was right afterall. Go McCAIN!Thank You -- More proof for JD shot himself in the tongue with that less-than-astute answer.

Yes. No. Any misreading of the Kim Wong Ark case notwithstanding, no child born to parents who are in the US illegally is a "natural born" citizen.
Congress may grant statutory citizenship to such "anchor babies" if that is their lunatic will, but Congress can NEVER bestow natural born citizenship on anyone. Natural Born citizenship predates the very existence of Congress, and will remain even if Congress is gone.

Ill guarantee to you that if he comes out and says hes a birther tomorrow, hell be doing jingles for a local Phoenix pizza joint on TV by tomorrow night. If he can't come up with better answers to questions like that, then he deserves to be doing jingles.

Sorry, lost the quote somehow. I was refering to Sarah saying that Obama was a US Citizen, and she had never questioned his birth certificate.
To: FlingWingFlyer; whatisthetruth
I agree with you completely Mike. That is what I am trying to say here. This was a set up. J.D. didnt fall for it. The Republic wont be able to clobber him with this thing.Whatisthetruth disagrees with you on that point. He says that his answer proves that he is just another politician. What do you say to him????

If she used Dunham, is that what Barack has been trying to hide? Can't be. Obama has already admitted that he was a British citizen at birth, and probably still is, and that could only happen if he was born in British Kenya or his father was a British national.
