WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Romney kicks off a 19-state book tour observers say could be an effort to garner support for a 2012 presidential run.
The three-month tour to promote his book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," includes speeches and appearances in early-primary states as the one-time 2008 Republican presidential hopeful wages what some see as the most methodical campaign of any GOP presidential wannabe for the 2012 party nod, USA Today reported Monday. The tour begins next week.
At the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington during the weekend, Romney polled second in a straw poll to libertarian Texas Rep. Ron Paul, ahead of more likely 2012 party hopefuls.
Mainstream conservatives, put off by Romney's roots in liberal Massachusetts and his past support of abortion and gay rights, have been won over, Tony Fabrizio, who ran the CPAC straw poll, told USA Today.

He just needs to go away.
The GOP needs to bring a viable candidate forward ASAP,and he ain’t it.
God help us if this megalomaniac thinks he’s the one to go up against Obama.
Romney lays groundwork for 2012

don’t go away mad....just get the hell goin’....
Alright, which of you all added the “rabslovesromney” keyword?
Governor Mitch Daniels (R-IN):
Indiana now ranks #1 in the midwest and #12 nationally for our business climate in the country, #8 for our overall cost of doing business, and #1 in international investment in the country in 2007 (Forbes Report, Tax Foundations State Business Tax Climate Index).
CEO Magazine has also rated Indiana #4 in the Midwest and #8 in the nation to do business.
Since taking office, over 60,000 new good-paying jobs have been committed by 2012.
Mitch is securing good paying jobs, with an average annual salary of more than $39,000, or about $5500 more per year than the average Hoosier salary.
Indianas unemployment rate is the lowest in the region. One economist described Indiana as an island of growth.
Unfortunately, Daniels is not really being talked about. I’d expect him to be a darkhorse, but I think he’s got a great shot at it.
Daniels has attracted great manufacturing jobs while Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois have been hemorrhaging them. We have a strong automotive presence that has been increased with new plants and suppliers, as well as the equivalent of Silicon Valley with emerging markets in life sciences and biotechnology.
Run, Romney,run away,run far away.....
I think that Romney is overrated by the media and GOP party hacks.
He couldn’t win in 2008 against a weak field and he lost to Ron Paul at CPAC. He doesn’t have a good track record of winning elections.
The MSM has crowned him "elder statesmen" and unfortunately that is good enough for a lot of GOP voters. What has he earned? He ran for POTUS because he could self-finance his own campaign with some additional money from his buddies from the Mormon church and venture capital.I am sure his book was ghost written and about as substantial as the recent Mt. Vernon statement.
He obviously didn’t get the message America sent last time.
Neither is Ron Paul.. .
“Mainstream conservatives, put off by Romney’s roots in liberal Massachusetts and his past support of abortion and gay rights, have been won over, Tony Fabrizio, who ran the CPAC straw poll, told USA Today.”
LOL, “(conservatives) have been one over”
KMA, he showed up and couldn’t even beat fruitcake RonPaul.
Vichy Republicans: collaborators in the demise of America.
Hey, I didn’t do it (I’m too busy catching up on posts going back to Saturday, ugh).
