It could be prosecuted on a conspiracy charge couldn’t it?

I doubt it. I’m no lawyer, but I’ve seen this before when Clinton was in office. Basically the crime is from the person seeking the job or wanting the bribe.

In other words, if he told Obama give me this job and I’ll quit my Senate run then it’s illegal for him (not Obama). If Obama says quit your run for Senator and I’ll give you this job then it’s “ok”.

Just read the first part of the post it’s illegal to solicit. It doesn’t say it’s illegal to offer a job.
