The Jewish vote is so volatile, with massive swings depending on how well Republicans court it.

Obama had to manage with only 78% but that was better than Kerry’s dismal 76%, that was a decline from the Gore support of 79%, which was a slight improvement over Clinton’s 78% which was lower than the 80% that Clinton had gotten in 1992.

Remember that Reagan was able to get about 40% of the Jewish vote vs. Carter in ‘80. It is possible for the GOP to make vast inroads, especially when you have an incumbent ‘Rat who makes no secret about where his sympathies lie, both internationally and domestically. Plus, Jewish voters as a whole would figure to get more conservative with the passage of time as the pro-FDR mythology dies out and the more observant Jews become a greater percentage of the Jewish population, due to greater reproductive rates and lesser assimilation.
