The Senate's top Republican promised Sunday morning that he and his members will attend President Obama's health care summit on Thursday "ready to participate" but said the Democrats are being "arrogant" by refusing to scrap their legislation and start over.
"You know, they are saying, "Ignore the wishes of the American people. We know more about this than you do. And we're going to jam it down your throats no matter what," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Fox News Sunday.

Republicans need to use this opportunity to talk to the American people and point out the dreadful provisions, not to mention the cost, of Obamacare the Dems want to shove down the throats of the American people, despite the strong opposition.
The OP(formerly the GOP) are a bunch of idiots for attending this charade.
All McConell had to do was say that the American people have said loud and clear that they don't support socialism and as a result we cannot participate in this meeting.
Of course , that would be effective and the red bastards in the press would have to report his quote exactly, but no, good OLD Mitch and his fellow bluebloods have got it covered.
Brain-dead suckers. They (and the nation) can lose from this silly participation, but they can never win. Why in hell bother with it? Sheesh.
The stupidity of the Republican Party is astounding. They are driving people away and they will be the ruin of the country. You can blame the Dems, they are doing what Dems do. They just need to be exterminated like roaches.
Now if only we could put McCain and his ‘gang’ in straight jackets to prevent them from ‘reaching across the aisle’, we might have a chance at succeeding.
I’m already hearing rumors that if this TV show gets good ratings, they may develop it into a “reality” TV series called “pwned by the POTUS”.
I agree with you;)
But, wouldn’t it be loverly to be wrong?
Surely the GOP wussies must realize that this is a gift - an opportunity to pull victory from the jaws of defeat?
Surely they have heard the people and seen the polls?
If not, they deserve to be diddled.
I meant, “you cannot blame the Dems”.
I smell toast.
If the Republicans attend - they and we will lose...
Any Republican participation will be morphed in willing compliance - agreement with the Dems. Manipulation will be rampant - aided by the MSM...
The American public will never hear what the Republicans say - only the words and actions of Obama-Reid-Pelosi will be heard.
This is bad bad bad — Republicans should hold their own hearings on CSPAN - and not attend Obama’s big lie meeting.
Yep, they be ready to participate, and as a result will be excoriated by the red press, then forced to stand idly by while the socialist congress condemns them anyway and illegally nationalizes the health insurance industry.
What he ought to do is start off the meeting by asking the Democrat leaders (Harry Reid, specifically) if it is true that they (the Democrats) are scheming to push through a White House-crafted plan through the reconciliation process. He ought to state that Republicans must have a clear answer to that question, because if true, it would be evidence of bad faith. Put him on the spot in front of the cameras.
I agree. The Democrats need to own this whole health care mess. They would like to claim bipartisanship.
The Republicans are morons for doing this.
The Democrats have no intention of compromising. They’re just grandstanding.
When they attempt to use the nuclear option this year, they’ll say that they tried everything to get a compromise, but the big bad GOP wouldn’t give in.
Which is complete bs, because if they would cut deals with a few of the RINOs, the Dems would have passed cap and trade, amnesty, and a bunch of other stuff by now.
Main problem is that the progressive wing of the Dem party isn’t content with taking half a loaf. It’s definitely not conservatives that are holding things up— conservatives (as opposed to Republicans) do not have the votes for a filibuster. It is the RINOs and the DINOs that the progressives are having trouble with.
Whatever.
Both parties deserve to have the American people ignore their sham meeting here. I won’t be following it.
Don't go!!!
Is this the budget that will require only 51 Senate votes to pass?
So, this summit is just a photo op to embarrass the OP?
Sorry Man50D - I saw a straw and I was clinging to it;(
