Microfinance is private companies making very small loans to poor people, to assist them in setting up small businesses as a way out of poverty. They often offer the money along with classes in how to manage the loans responsibly. It’s been successful in poor countries.
Microfinance is one of the great things is economics. And it’s a brilliant strategy for him to adopt. You can Google examples of it, but simply stated, it’s along these lines:
Let’s pretend you live in a poor neighborhood, but you have a talent, a real gift for sewing. You can sew anything, alter anything, make old things look brand new again. All you need is a newer, better working sewing machine and you can hang out a shingle. Microfinancing is what will deliver that sewing machine to you. Presto, you have just created an entrepreneur...and probably a conservative, to boot.
