(Vanity) Getting nervous about 2012

Posted on 02/20/2010 9:22:20 PM PST by jakerobins

With Ron Paul winning the straw poll at CPAC. Republicans attacking each other and RINO's jockeying to try and co-opt the Tea Party movement. I'm worried that we are headed for another Perot type situation....an unpopular RINO picked in Primaries and a stong third party canidate spliting the votes. And another horrible 4 Years of Obama!

A meaningless poll. Who cares?

In all honesty, if the country doesn't get 2010 right, 2012 may not matter.

It’s meaningless but shows the mood of the people.....Conservatives,Tea Partiers, and Republicans all want to see Dems and Obama out of Washington...However we need to focus our efforts on the DEMS not each other...

The GOP establishment wants another RINO. Pawlenty, Perry, Huck, or Mitt. We’ve got our work cut out.

as Freeper "Brices Crossroads" put it:

"CPAC is a rotten pustule, a shadow of what it once was. It has been eclipsed by the Tea Party movement. Even David Keene admitted as much. It is an inside the beltway group that draws from wannabees outside the beltway who want to join the inside the beltway group. They have few adherents, and vitually no grass roots organization. Mitt, understandably, is the hero of CPAC. Sarah Palin is the heroine of the Tea Partiers. We’ll see who wins that one."

I agree. The Mayans said their calendar will end on Dec. 21, 2012, which means I’m opening my presents early that year. LOL

What? CPAC is not a nationwide election. It's a closed convention. Ron Paul won 30% of the vote; whoop de doo, it means 70% of the conservatives there voted against him.

Meanwhile, out in the real world, Scott Brown is a Republican Senator from Massachusetts, Chris Christie is a Republican governor of New Jersey, Bob McDonnell is a Republican governor of Virginia, and tea party activists are kicking Democrats out of office left and right.

Get a grip.

Better than Mitt winning. At least Ron Paul stands for someone other than himself,

I would conjecture that a CPAC poll is not indicative of the beliefs of mainstream America as currently influenced by the tea partiers. CPAC has been infiltrated by RINOS.

First of all, lets all remember how tremendously important it is to hold on to Congress, both Houses, if possible.

Yes, there are worries about 2012, but we can deal with that stuff AFTER 2010.

Ron Paul knows how to stack the deck. He is good at this straw poll stuff, but it doesn't mean anything.

Ignore it!

Also, this should show some of the Palin haters why Palin feels like she does not want the crazy Ron Paul crowd to treat her like an enemy.

We should agree with the nuts in our own Party, when they are right, but -— never apologize for them.

The Left NEVER apologizes for their nut cases.

Neither should we!

You hit it.

and Republicans look like a take over of Senate seates from the Democrats in Del., Ill, Nevada, and at least 3 or more other states.
Also a pick up of the Gov. in Ohio.

Those who voted at CPAC were 2,400 out of 10,000 and 48% attending were College Students:
Translation - theory people not workers in the real world.

I had similar thoughts on straw poll, and wondered if conservatives can realize those dangers in next election.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:

I’d feel much more comfortable with Sarah Palin’s electability if she would find a good executive level “rescue operation” job for the next 18 months.

In my opinion, every 3 months she spends showing she can FURTHER walk the walk, and not just talk the talk on Facebook and Fox News, she’ll gain another percentage or two of voting populace.

Maybe she can take over the GOP from Steele. That certainly would kill many birds with one stone: She needs the rounding out of the resume, and the GOP certainly is in need of rescue. It isn’t as solid as a business executive job, but it might do.

Well, if the republicans insist on running a RINO, they are going to loose to obama. Our only hope then is a third party...

If the RNC selects a looser, don’t blame the loss on the conservative candidate.

I don’t blame the third party.....I just think instead of fighting the RINO’s from without...We need to fight them from inside the RNC! Conservatives need to take back the RNC! Restore our Founding Principles and get rid of the RINOS. The RINO’s are trying to take over the Tea Party movement..and if they do people will not be able to differentiate. And sadly we will lose again to Obama’s divide and conquer politics.....
