As a volunteer in my daughter’s kindergarten class, I was asked to help children write a “story” (a few words) to illustrate their pictures. Only one girl needed my writing help; only one boy could write for himself. Nearly all the boys seemed to be a full year behind nearly all the girls in their ability to pay attention, follow directions, control frustrations, sit still, handle a pencil or crayon and do what used to be considered first-grade work.
As reading and writing are pushed down to earlier ages, boys are struggling harder to meet higher expectations, writes Richard Whitmire, a former USA Today reporter, in Why Boys Fail.
“Each year since 1988 the gap between boys’ and girls’ reading skills has widened a bit more,” Whitmire writes. Boys aren’t wired for early verbal skills — and teachers aren’t trained in “boy-friendly” techniques to help them catch up.
Boys are asked to do too much too soon — and labeled hyperactive or bipolar or autistic if they act like little boys, writes psychologist Anthony Rao in The Way of Boys.....

Schoolmaster used to be as honorable a calling as schoolmistress. Sometimes boys need a man around to keep them under control.
They’re kids, not trained seals. More parents need to get loud about how kids are being institutionalized in the form of schooling. It isn’t normal for children to be “housed” all day, sitting quietly.
I just was telling my girls (12) about how boys are just being boys when they act up in class, goof off in the playground, etc. One of their boy classmates even brags about how he has ADD. I told them that maybe he does, or maybe he just uses it as an excuse to screw around.
Although the ones who act up the most are raised with no dad in the home.
I’ll tell you a real story from my freshman year in the dorms at a major west-coast University; we had to go around in a seated circle, introducing ourselves. One catch —we had to STATE that we were GAY.
This, we were told by the proctors, was in order to break down stereotypes.

Boys need a man as a role model, and many of them today grow up without a father in the home. Thanks a lot, feminists.

Girls play dress-up and dream of marriage (or did, anyway) and other such romantic type stuff while we boys were still fascinated with putting every known insect to humanity in a jar of gasoline and watch them curl up and die .... after we pulled the legs and/or wings off ..... the ones that were spared from the magnifying glass.
We grew up to kill men and break things so the girls could/would feel safe at home being real life Barbies for their Kens.
Leave it all alone, I say ... Don't allow the conversation to even develope.
After dealing with a boy hating teacher during my son’s second grade year I home-schooled him until the 11th grade. After 6 weeks with the boy hater, I put him into another class. But that wasn’t peachy keen either. That teacher was very pregnant. She went on leave with a short term sub, then a long term sub. She finally returned for the last few months. So in one school year my son had 5 teachers.
I can't remember being asked to write anything in kindergarten. Anyway, boys are wired for mathematical ans mechanical stuff, and they love to build things. Let them play with blocks and make models, for heaven's sake.
Education has been feminized. Its all about feelings and a false sense of accomplishment. The boys were always better in school than the girls when I grew up.

I gotta say, being raised with 5 older brothers, you’re on to something here. God had a plan, and he implemented it beautifully. It’s been working for a long, long time now. Only progressive politics is to blame for this current screw around.

Boys generally lag behind girls in grade school; girls historically lag behind boys starting in high school. Feminists will rue the day that girls were given the advantage starting in high school. Women appreciate a man who does better than they do in scholastics. Feminists don’t believe men are necessary in most areas. Feminists will never have a close symbiotic relationship with a man. They have to be superior. Feminists have written their own ending to the romantic story. There is no romantic story for Feminists. True women acknowledge they need men for a completely fulfilled life. When I was in college a popular t-shirt said ‘a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle’. The Feminists have painted themselves into a corner. A sad and lonely corner.

Yup, boys are just so stupid.
Odd though how they always grow into men and how men seem to have invented nearly everything on the planet since the year 1.
Must be some sort of sinister plot.
I believe it’s because there are so few men left in the schools teaching these days. The female teachers are left to interpret the boys as dysfunctional and having problems because they aren’t behaving like little girls.
