If whales are a food source, they are no different than any other wild game, "landlocked" or not, whether you think they are cute, noble, majestic or not.
Fish live in the same ocean as whales do. Do you think the same of them?

No. I love wildlife and detest those who kill it for no reason. Very few of those killing whales actually eat them.
And certainly they are not hungry or in need of food.
