Well, well - so now he’s suddenly a commie when some how he wasn’t back then despite the terrible price he exacted by his treason in the 70s which the Russians absolutely loved.

I remain shoched, I tell you.

Who the hell ever said he wasn’t a communist back then?? And you seriously think most people know this, or have such evidence as this connection to these revolutionary communist organizations? You have to stop and THINK sometimes before you respond. It’s not only about YOU or anyone else who “suspected” this was the case. There are an enormous number of people out there who don’t know beans about this stuff, including people hosting their own television and radio programs, not to mentioned many of the younger generations. Learn to think outside yourself once in awhile.

Sorry. Meant to send that last one (Kerry and Ortega) to another thread. I’ll ask the mods to delete it from here.

You know, you're right! Not that most people today know this aspect of the Watergate scandal, but rather that he was in fact tried for treason at the time. I hadn't known that. Thanks, although the rest of my argument stands about getting these kinds of 'details' out to the next generations, and showing that this SOB is still at it today! Then again, I still don't know if the charges included that he was indeed a communist--just that he acted against the country. I'll check when I have more time. Going out now.

Here's the result of a very quick search I did just now from Wiki, which can be entirely trusted, I'm sure, in this situation.

"Trial and mistrial:
On June 28, 1971, Ellsberg publicly surrendered to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts in Boston. He was taken into custody believing he would spend the rest of his life in prison; he and Russo faced charges under the Espionage Act of 1917 and other charges including theft and conspiracy, carrying a total maximum sentence of 115 years. Their trial commenced in Los Angeles on January 3, 1973, presided over by U.S. District Judge William Matthew Byrne, Jr.".
