Ryan Sorba, from the Young Americans for Freedom organization’s California chapter, was booed off the stage tonight at CPAC, for deriding CPAC’s choice to have GOProud attend CPAC, even going so far as to say he “condemns CPAC”. Not the sort of thing one would say when invited to speak at the biggest gathering of Conservatives who look to CPAC for guidance and networking.

Thank you Jim. As someone with some familiarity with this issue (I did my doctoral dissertation on the subject, have written much on the subject, and worked for many years in public policy in Washington defending the family), I appreciate your unequivocal stance, and am frankly dismayed that a number of contributors to this forum seem to be ignorant of the true aims of the homosexual agenda.
Those who accuse anyone who stands for pro-family traditional values of “hate” are merely parroting the cheap sophisms of gay activists. What some apparently fail to realize is that the homosexual agenda has a truly ominous goal: it is nothing less than the “tip of the spear” of the effort to overturn the traditional understanding of marriage and family.
It is clear, for example, that even “committed” homosexual “couples” have a radically different view of what they loosely-term “monogamy.” One research study showed that, after a few years, ALL of the “monogamous couples” in the study had sexual partners outside the relationship. Of course, even if they had not, it would not have justified their behavior morally. However, this illustrates the fact that their redefinition of “marriage” would effectively destroy that divinely-ordained institution.
The naive “live and let live” view expressed by some here is soundly refuted by the GOProud contingent and their supporters themselves - who displayed a jack-booted intolerance by shouting down their opposition. That they were able to silence a pro-family advocate in the very midst of a pre-eminent conservative forum, is indicative of the arrogance that they exhibit towards those who oppose them.
The taunts and jeers by those supporting GOProud also gives the lie to the argument that such groups only seek a “place at the table” to join us in supporting conservative issues, etc., and that they do not have an “agenda” to push gay marriage, etc. To the contrary, GOProud and their supporters showed their true hand when they expressed vocal outrage at someone who dared to speak out in defense of traditional marriage.
That such boorish behavior coincided with the very first inclusion of a pro-homosexual group is of course no coincidence. CPAC has opened a Pandora’s Box: what can be expected next year - and in following years - as the gay activists insinuate themselves and work ceaselessly to make the convention “hate-free” and “inclusive”?
Those who wring their hands about losing the “conservative” homosexual vote would do better to court, e.g. the Amish, for it would result in greater numbers at the ballot box. Numerous surveys estimate that homosexuals comprise only about two percent of the population. In addition, exit polls consistently show that more than 80% of self-described homosexuals vote Democratic.
Thus, the “conservative homosexual vote” that the “big GOP tent” advocates are so exercised about is truly minuscule. Dare we abandon the traditional values that have always constituted the historic heart and soul of the Republican party and welcome instead the avowed enemies of those very values?
It has to be a setup. Is CPAC so hard up for participants that the have to let in a so called Gay Conservative group? I don’t believe GOProud represents any significant number of “Gay Conservative Voters”. It is really just about Gay activism and furthering their lifestyle.

I don’t see it as “taking over.” In the words of the owner, as stated in post 211, “Free Republic is a pro-God, pro-family, pro-Liberty conservative site! We are 100% opposed to liberalism, socialism, wacko environmentalism and militant homosexualism. If you don’t like it you can take a hike or get banned for trolling!”

As for argued elsewhere, outside of anarchy, you will not have small government ruling over an immoral people. Those who are not sufficiently controlled from within, by God and a sound conscience, must sooner or later be controlled from without, necessitating the growth of civil government. Robert Winthrop (May 12, 1809 – November 16, 1894), and Speaker of the House from 1838 to 1840, and later president of the Massachusetts Bible Society, explained that, “Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the Word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or the bayonet.”

I totally agree with you. And I’m not giving excuses for bad behavior. I’m saying that we need to stand firm against this frontal assault the government is making on our families.
Irresponsible parents should be held accountable. Unfortunately our government is giving the irresponsible parents a pass while attacking the responsible parents and their ability to raise their families properly.
They are teaching our children how to have sex. Teaching them to disrespect their parents and authority. Promoting abortion. Punishing homeschoolers. Rewriting history in textbooks. Teaching elementary students homosexuality. The list goes on and on... And it’s unacceptable.
I once though the same way-—stay private - don’t ask don’t tell. The comprosmise did not work. Don’t ask don’t tell is now gone.
Problem is that homosexual activists don’t want to stay private. They want to practice and behave publicly their sordidness with all that entails..get it?

The context was that of the Lord’s supper being portrayed as a Folsom fest, and was not about freedom of speech, but my judgment was of what was done with it.
Blasphemy is the religious equivalent of flag burning, or counterfeit currency, misusing authority. Perhaps some would not be offended by someone using a picture of their mother as an ashtray, but most would be. Of course, the real issue is whether the authority is worthy of reverenced, or it defaming the office itself. The Bible teaches reverence for the office, and those within it due to it, while exposing the character of those who hold it, whether they be good or evil.
The command against blasphemy is not promulgated out of nothing, rather, the command to honor God came after He manifested His own worthiness of it.
Moreover, the commanded obedience to Him were and are not because He needed anything, as He does not (Acts 17:25), but because they were right, and for our benefit, the opposite being true when are disobeyed, as history testifies.
Having misused His good things, and broken His good laws, man needs a redeemer, and God, who is a giving God, “spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, and “who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Rm. 8:22; Gal. 2:20), that we may live thru Him. And which faith works for the good of any country. Thanks be to God!
I couldn’t care less about what these lunatics do with each other behind closed doors. What really pisses me off is when they drag innocent children into their cesspool. Any homosexual who teaches sex to young children or adopts them and then teaches them about sex deserves to be executed on sight. That is nothing less than child molestation.

This group obviously believes that the practicing homosexuals are “conservative” too. The dichotomy of social and economic conservattism is splitting more than headaches.

The thing is, people are influenced by the culture they are raised in. And the culture has more effect, the less protection and guidance the family offers.
So now, the media, “entertainment” of all kinds, the government and this especially includes the public schools (add to that institutions of higher learning), are filled with toxic leftist garbage.
Even families who want to protect their children from this exceeedlingly malign influence are hard pressed, what to speak of idiots having children. It’s not just that simple - people need to be responsible. When many people are dirt ignorant, have been indoctrinated since birth, have no good examples in their lives to look up to - now what? How to stop the train?
The only way I can see is to put a total stop to all goverment welfare/benefits/HUD/Food stamps/AFDC/subsidies/etc etc. Just put the breaks on it all. Then, if people can’t find jobs to survive - and a lot won’t be able to, the economy being what it is, let private charities and organizations pick up the slack. Poor farms, orphanages, etc. Nothing’s perfect, but just about anything will be better than the rampant underclass fueled by illegitimacy happening now - all subsidized by government.
