Maybe she forgot to ask how McCain stood on the Yucca Mountain issue...
“...Whats more, while the White House now touts the building of new nuclear power plants, its budget inexplicably calls for cutting funding to the proposed nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. A real nuclear energy plan requires a strategy for dealing with nuclear waste storage and recycling.”
“...Arizona Republican John McCain said today that he will promote amendments to a Senate energy bill that would abandon the Yucca Mountain, Nev., nuclear waste dump and refund about $16 billion in waste fees to electricity ratepayers.”
Who’s snow job is this again? Methinks Palin is endorsing a liar and a con artist who WAS a war hero?
This suggests the question: is Yucca Mountain even needed? The scuttlebutt about France’s reactors is that they keep their waste on the same grounds as the reactor. After it cools a bit, it can be recycled. The US did not want such a scheme for fear that rogue agents and rogue countries might make off with some of this recycled fuel for nefarious weapons purposes. It looks now like such agents and countries are satisfied to create their weapons fuel the old fashioned way. Yucca may well be obsolete.
Get over it, Tom.
