A US glass-worker is being hailed as a hero for his efforts to help people escape a burning building after a suicidal pilot crashed his plane into it.
Robin Dehaven was on his way to work when he saw the light aircraft approaching the building in the Texas state capital of Austin, Fox News reported.
After the plane crashed into the building, Mr Dehaven immediately pulled over and went to help office workers stuck in the burning office building.
"I saw people up on the second floor with their heads out the window for air because the room was filled with smoke," he said.
When people in the office were unable to secure the ladder, Mr Dehaven reportedly climbed up to do it himself.
He then managed to help four women and one man climb down to safety.
Two people were killed, including pilot Joseph Stack a software engineer who was reportedly furious with the Internal Revenue Service.
The federal tax departments local offices were located in the building.
"Violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer," a message on Stack's website posted before the attack read.
Two other people were hospitalised after the attack but the majority of the 200 employees in the building escaped safely.
LOL - how many levels of bureaucracy did this line go through?

I heard the interview on Mygan Kelly’s show on the Fox Channel. He was an Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army for 6 six years. I think there is a Fire Department in TX that could use this young man’s (age 28) bravery and talents!
Well done.
Good for him but the headline stinks. It reads like the glass person is calling the pilot a hero - and he might well be for whoever gets the contract for re-installing all those blown out office windows.
I’m about 50-50 on whether they’ll level the building or just remodel it. FedGov does not own the building. They were leasing the office space.
This is why I believe there is still hope for all of us!!!
When the opportunity arises, and you are thrust into a situation like this
All I know is that it is in my nature to not even waste time asking myself the question
He apparently got the person he was after. The IRS is being very tight-lipped about who was killed. That appears to me to mean Stack got who he was after and knew exactly where the office was. Understandable outrage, useless action. That person will only be replaced with someone just as bad or worse. What people never seem to understand is that the offending person is only replaced with someone even more hardcore. Very interesting.
Not everyone in Austin is a weirdo.
It is just the view that Austin likes to "keep it weird".
just keeping it weird... in Texas-who knew?
Well done.
Thanks myknowledge.
Sorry, “He was a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army “
