Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) will travel to New Hampshire to address the Hillsborough County GOP Lincoln-Reagan dinner March 19, the county committee announced today. Pence is considered a long-shot (at this point) contender for the White House in 2012; he's been making moves as if he has higher office in mind--he added pollster Kellyanne Conway to his political team recently--and the Republican dance card appears to be full in the race to replace Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN). The trip to New Hampshire will be a definite step in the presidential direction.

I liked the idea last year.
As soon as Obama was elected Pence should have launched a tour across the country to rally “tea party” voters.
Mike Pence must first become Speaker of the House, then we can talk about a 2012 run for the White House.
I’ve seen Mike Pence. Good choice. Down to earth. Few and weighty words. Determined.
I really like Pence, and I think he'd be a very competent President, but I think the chances of a Representative ascending to the Presidency is a long shot. Pence would be better off running for IN governor in 2012, and then running in 2016 or 2020. He's still a very young guy.
We didn’t think a first-term Senator barely out of the IL legislature would ever be elected President, either.
Unfortunately, Zero has lowered the bar for the required experience level to occupy the WH.
Well if a community organizer can make it...
Tell that to John Quincy A.
And Lincoln. But, two out of 43 isn't encouraging, and none in the last 100+ years is even worse.
and to James Garfield.
Not a chance. A Representative from the House would have to be a Billionare to make a run at the Presidency. Pence recently declined to run for Bayh’s Senate seat which could have been a launching pad. He’s a good guy, but a run at the White House would be a monumental financial stretch.
You are also forgetting James Garfield. BTW, many historians believe he would have been one of the best presidents but his presidency was cut off early due to assassination.
I’ll take him over any of the others that are currently planning for a run
I like him very much.
He’s one of the few I could support early on without reservation.
I like Mike, but he is not a strong enough public speaker.
I like the idea only if he promises to find a replacement that’s just as good as he is for Congress.....
I think every man or woman who goes to Washington gets a mammoth head within one year. Yes, he’s a nice guy. President? Not IMO.
Pence/Palin sounds pretty good :o)
Yes, Yes, Yes!
