Obama's Call to Astronauts Gets Awkward
AOL news ^

Astronauts flying in space are used to VIP phone calls that don't always go as scripted, but Wednesday's conversation was probably one of the most awkward.
President Barack Obama used his chat with the crews of the space shuttle Endeavour and the International Space Station to declare that he sees space exploration as "so important."
"My commitment to NASA is unwavering," Obama said. He emphasized "how proud we are of you ... and how committed we are to continuing human space exploration in the future."
A few weeks ago, the White House unveiled a plan to cancel NASA's new spaceship, its two new rockets and the NASA program, now five years in the making, to return astronauts to the moon. Though Obama also wants to add an extra $6 billion to NASA's budget over the next five years, his proposal has thrown much of the space agency into turmoil.
None of the 11 astronauts was rash enough to bring up the outrage felt by many of their colleagues, but they were more candid during media interviews they gave earlier in their mission.

In 2005, President George W. Bush called the first space-shuttle crew to return to orbit after the loss of the shuttle Columbia and its seven astronauts in 2003. The president raced through a few sentences of congratulations, then barked, "Now get back to work!" Only a sissy liberal would think that is awkward. That's how people with military backgrounds talk. The astronauts got it; that's all that matters.

He is also a deficit hawk!
He is forming a Commission to study how we are spending more than we bring in and he signed “paygo”.
Neither will stop Obama from spending a trillion or 2 more than incoming revenue, of course. He wants us to think he had nothing to do with the deficit.

Military-hating Barry only has the military-like discipline of the Astronaut corps to thank that none of them took him on for lying to them and the country at the same time he is dismantling the corps and our manned space program.

“My commitment to NASA is unwavering,”
A REAL American president would not have used the personal pronoun “My”.
A REAL American president would have used “Our” to assure that ALL the country supports them.
Typical Obama...ME, MY, I....

Whoever is holding this guy's leash I hope they keep holding it until 2012. 0 is without a doubt the most naive and arrogant president in our history. I can't believe he was so dishonest and condescending to our astronauts.

The biggest part of the entire story is who it's from:
AOL News.
They've been reliably in Obama's camp all along; for them to bring up something so obviously embarrassing, and to call him on the lie, is a big deal.
They've always treated Obama like a celebrity ... maybe Obama's about to learn about the downward media slide that always accompanies celebrities....
