amateur hell. read the book on him. this guy has caused so much international war, it is almost unbelievable. this is actually incredible news, and a sad story in that the U.S. even used him to ferry around military items, because he was the only guy capable of doing it.

Bout was/is far far from being an amateur. He was the prmier example of buying/selling to all sides in a conflict. His reputation was for providing what weapons were wated an a speedy manner.
To do this he would buy ships/trucks/aircraft or whatever he needed to transport his wares to where they had to go.
He would re-paper these to meet whatever cursory inspections he would encounter. And the "stuffed envelope" passed to the inspectors smoothed the trail.
Yes, he got caught. But it was a concerted effort by a large number of government agencies working for 10 yrs or more that brought him into the net.
He was most definitely not an 'amateur.'
And remember..."An indictment is not a conviction."
