U.S. President Barack Obama says the massive economic stimulus bill he signed one year ago has prevented another Great Depression and kept millions of Americans working. The president is celebrating the anniversary of the bill's signing.
President Obama says the $787 billion Recovery Act is working. "It is one of the main reasons the economy has gone from shrinking by six percent to growing by about six percent. And this morning we learned that manufacturing production posted a strong gain. So far, the Recovery Act is responsible for the jobs of about two million Americans who would otherwise be unemployed," he said.

Why not 10 million or 20? Since he’s pulling these numbers out of his *ss anyway.
2 million jobs is just a drop in a jug compared to the tens of millions lost and sent overseas.
I think that the $787 billion stimulus has only benefited government employees in any major way and the recipiens of any benefit have almost exclusively been state government employees who work in states that have needed to be bailed out.
I also have a HUGE problems with V. P. Biden’s stated view that the first half of the stimulus package was NOT focused on job creation, but such is “loaded” in the second half of the implementation of the stimulus package. If what Biden says is true (which it isn’t) it shows an INCREDIBLY stupid approach to fixing the IMMEDIATE need of a broken economy. If what he says is false (which it is) Biden is just covering up for the failure of the stimulus package to work.
The REASON the stimulus package has no tangible job increases to point to is because the stimulus money has not been spent on the people’s needs at all. It has simply been diverted into various democrat re-election bid coffers!

How do we actually calculate ‘job saving’? As one of the freepers pointed out a while ago, if lets say Verizon had 20,000 at the beginning of 0bama’s term, and they fired 4,000 people, does it mean 0bama ‘saved’ 16,000 jobs?

Well her roof did fall in, she lives in Florida and lost her Wachovia bank job, got 5 months severance! That was in Nov. but I guess she is waiting for the savior to save her any day now.

Even if you could believe the 2 million “saved” jobs, the total jobs lost under obama is far higher. Net loss.
