NAPLES The Bush brothers packed the house at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.
Former President George W. Bush and his brother Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, spoke Tuesday night as part of the Naples Town Hall Distinguished Speakers Series. They talked issues _ everything from health care and the Iraq war to budget deficits and Social Security reform.
George W. Bush, the 43rd U.S. president, has stayed out of the spotlight, limiting his face-time in public since leaving the White House about a year ago.
He and his brother the states 43rd governor addressed a crowd of more than 1,000 who purchased tickets to see them. Tickets to hear the duo speak started at $200.
The brothers had the crowd laughing, clapping and sighing with heart-felt emotions as they showed their more personal side. A few times, George W. Bush fought tears as he talked about the support of his wife in the Oval Office and how his decisions to send more troops to Iraq hurt families in the U.S. who lost their sons, daughters, husbands and wives to the war.

If I had known about this in advance I would have liked to have gone. Jim Angle moderated; he's always intelligent and good at such things.

Had to add this; I think I’ll change my tagline for a while.
Me thinks you missed in adding a "cl" to "class"!
Fox news reported this morning that G. Bush didn’t know who Rubio was.
Don’t know much about Jeb, but George Bush has enough class to not “sound the trumpet before him” when he goes anywhere or does anything...quite unlike our self-serving, egotistical current president.
Get out da Bushes! Puhlease... no more Boooooooooshies!
Oh, shut up.

Someone should add a “hole” to your ass.
Very nice article!
Thanks for finding and posting it.
You have wound up a pathetic figure...hate does that to ya
I’ll second the motion, Deb...
Repeating Jesse Jackson. That works. Sheesh.
Love the reception they got...I miss the sense of love and devotion to our nation shared when Bush was in office...and the sense of safety...we knew they were doing what they could to protect this country...unlike now where it seems our Pres. is more for himself/the world/the arab nations than for this nation and keeps on putting us in arms way.
What a difference an election makes
OMG you beat me to it, that was my exact reaction when I read the post.
George Bush always was a classy guy.
I could not believe what a great public speaker he is. He was fired up. Called the terrorists "barbarians", "murderers", "cowards", etc...Teared up when discussing 9/11 and our fallen soldiers.
Not sure if he froze up because he was on TV or because he speech writers told him to take out the "Wanted: Dead or Alive" style. He is much better in person.
Amazing being that close to C-I-C DURING the war.
I agree. I’d take G.W. or Jeb in a heartbeat over almost anyone out there now.
