NAPLES The Bush brothers packed the house at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.
Former President George W. Bush and his brother Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, spoke Tuesday night as part of the Naples Town Hall Distinguished Speakers Series. They talked issues _ everything from health care and the Iraq war to budget deficits and Social Security reform.
George W. Bush, the 43rd U.S. president, has stayed out of the spotlight, limiting his face-time in public since leaving the White House about a year ago.
He and his brother the states 43rd governor addressed a crowd of more than 1,000 who purchased tickets to see them. Tickets to hear the duo speak started at $200.
The brothers had the crowd laughing, clapping and sighing with heart-felt emotions as they showed their more personal side. A few times, George W. Bush fought tears as he talked about the support of his wife in the Oval Office and how his decisions to send more troops to Iraq hurt families in the U.S. who lost their sons, daughters, husbands and wives to the war.

As Forrest Gump might say, stupid is as stupid does.
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Deb said it best.
Shut up.
What a sad life to be so deeply angry at millions upon millions of people......most of them good and honorable, but lacking your version of perfection.
Sad.
God bless President Bush and his family. They are GOOD people. Honorable people. People of deep and strong principle.
The world needs more of them.........and less of those who dedicate their lives to attacking them.
Can you imagine anyone so stupid that he thinks that quoting Jesse Jackson is a GOOD thing to do? LOL!
Cue Twilight Zone theme.......
Seems another lifetime since THE night, doesn’t it? You got the kiss, you turkey, and I only got the handshake. A night to remember for sure.
Thank you for posting.
Just stay off the threads that have the name Bush in the title. You don’t speak for all of us. Sheesh!
We heard and saw President Bush three more times after taht, but none was as spectacular as that night in WVa.
And for that I am eternally grateful!!
(And so is my son, Eric, who so proudly shook the hand of his Commander in Chief!)
(Are you buried in snow down there?)
I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't a mental illness that goes even beyond the "normal" BDS.....
I don't think they could stay away if they tried.
Must be their way of getting attention. Jerks.
Reminds me of the kind of "attention" children need in elementary school. Doesn't matter if it's negative attention, as long as people are looking at them. That's all that matters.
Kinda sad.....
LOL
ROFL
What a wonderful report - am so jealous of those who were there. Sigh. Where is PJTV when you need them! I would pay money to see a replay of this!
And an I still jealous of you two??? Not toooooo much.
LOL
Really you all know first hand the joy of meeting W.
Wherever he goes it is all joy!
And part of that wonderful-ness was getting to know dear Nan.
(Another fairly significant part was that kiss thing............. ;*)
You mean two men with "CRASS"! One couldn't figure out that Terri Shiavo was in a vegetative state with no hope of recovery and wouldn't grant her grieving husband his "no resucitate" legitimate right; the other couldn't figure out that the Freddie/Fannie credit system was in a vegetative state with no hope of recovery yet didn't pull the plug on it (and consequently paved the way for the worst choice ever in American history be elected president)!
Both Jeb and the President did far more than any other leaders would have done to save Terri - up to the point of breaking the law, which they would not nor should not do.
As for the Fanny Freddie Dem fiasco - you are so absent the facts about what Bush did to correct that mess, that it seems you are willfully ignorant.
The list of reasons that Obama won is long and detailed, but it doesn't include President Bush and the financial collapse - other than the lies of the left which you are perpetrating.
Sometimes its really hard to know what side you're on. There is a deep camaraderie between Bush haters left and right, and neither of you cares about the facts.
meandog - not so very much.....
