NAPLES The Bush brothers packed the house at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.
Former President George W. Bush and his brother Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, spoke Tuesday night as part of the Naples Town Hall Distinguished Speakers Series. They talked issues _ everything from health care and the Iraq war to budget deficits and Social Security reform.
George W. Bush, the 43rd U.S. president, has stayed out of the spotlight, limiting his face-time in public since leaving the White House about a year ago.
He and his brother the states 43rd governor addressed a crowd of more than 1,000 who purchased tickets to see them. Tickets to hear the duo speak started at $200.
The brothers had the crowd laughing, clapping and sighing with heart-felt emotions as they showed their more personal side. A few times, George W. Bush fought tears as he talked about the support of his wife in the Oval Office and how his decisions to send more troops to Iraq hurt families in the U.S. who lost their sons, daughters, husbands and wives to the war.

“Stop with the kiddie games and give it up ok?”
You want to talk about something else, do so. Otherwise, bye.
Pushing RINOs and the RINO agenda is generally frowned upon at FR, isn't it?
This is the 'morality' of the Bush haters. Dirt. Grime. Deep dishonesty.
VERY instructive.
Stop hijacking the thread........
But once again, let me ask you what you've ever done to rid the political world of a RINO.
Oh, that's right. NOTHING.
All talk. Dirty mouth. Dishonesty. Yep. Conservative to the core, you are.
Case closed. Again.
As some FReepers like to claim, I helped stop the RINO McCain from being elected in 2008!
Good enough for you?
/sarc
My educated guess......he came here with the sole purpose of hijacking the thread.
(But he's only been here since August, so maybe he doesn't realize that there are actually RULES on this forum, eh? ;)
Another flip-flop on your part.
Ah........voted for Obama. Good boy.
“If you get it trouble it will be because you have broken FR rules, and I will have had nothing to do with it.”
Interesting. I’ve seen countless posts in your posting history where you blatantly violated any terms of service here.... Years and years of ad homs, but you play the victim immediately when it is aimed back at you.
To quote a poet (one of my favorites):
“O would some Power the gift to give us
To see ourselves as others see us!
It would from many a blunder free us,
And foolish notion:
What airs in dress and gait would leave us,
And even devotion!”
“Since you are so new to the forum, I thought you should know that you are on the edge of getting in trouble.
Consider yourself warned.”
I’ve heard about you from others. I’ve been “warned” too.
I’ve been warned that you never engage in any kind of debate concerning political issues or the record of the Bush Administration. I doubt you ever have. You just abuse people who don’t bow down to your Great Leader.
Conservatives are justifiably quite angry at GWB. He not only massively expanded government and helped run up a huge debt, but he tried to replace us with tractable Mexicans who aren’t “lazy” like us poor dumb Americans. To add icing to the cake, he defended Muslims in their aggression against Christians. All while calling himself a “conservative”.
For all your fawning over Laura Bush, she’s pro-abortion and likes to use the “sexist” card.
His brother and his son are even worse. George P. is an out-and-out racist who views Mexico as his country and Mexicans as his people, not Americans. This whole family is little better than the Kennedy’s.
That is what you defend. Yes, Obama and his minions are worse, but that is not praise for Bush or the rest of them. They can all take their presumed noblesse oblige and shove it.
“(But he’s only been here since August, so maybe he doesn’t realize that there are actually RULES on this forum, eh? ;)”
Kind’a like the “rule” about posting to someone when you talk about them?
You're an idiot.
It is possible to vote against both the Democrat and the Republican by voting third party.
I voted for a conservative in 2008. Did you?
(And don't try copping out by saying that you voted for Palin and that McCain just happened to be on the ticket.)
Now, I know that you're a post-modern situation ethics boy, but there actually are moral absolutes, and I hope you start looking for what they are and applying them to your life.
Oh, and the next time I see that you say SARAH PALIN lacks integrity, I'm going to laugh myself silly.
I haven't heard that term used in a LONG time.
“Stop hijacking the thread........”
Threads drift and topics shift. Considering this is about the Bush brothers (wonder if they still include Clinton?) and Jeb’s political future, discussing the Bush Administration is topical.
If you want to discuss the OP, do so. Otherwise, you are just being a thread cop.
Now do some research on integrity, and the lack thereof, and get back to me when you've figured things out.
I have a conservative life to live, and frankly, that really doesn't include you.....
You flip from calling me dishonest to honest to dishonest.
If that's not a flip-flop, I don't know what is.
Oh, and the next time I see that you say SARAH PALIN lacks integrity
By supporting McCain despite knowing of his progressive tendencies, she is demonstrating that she has no integrity.
She is a Republican first, a conservative (maybe) second.
Really? I couldn't tell. Maybe you should have added /sarc after your mindless babbling.
“I haven’t heard that term used in a LONG time.”
What can I say.... I’m old....
It’s an attitude that was and is common among “old money” in the North East. You should read what Teddy Roosevelt and his wife thought of the “common folk” and anyone who was “new money”. Despite the fact that the Kennedy money was made running booze during Prohibition, they view themselves that way. Prescott Bush earned his more honestly
but the later generations grew up in that same culture. His “new money” became their “old money”.
