To me, it was an attack on Sarah.

If the character never made reference to the “former governor of Alaska”, would the segment be getting the publicity it’s getting now?

Is it inappropriate to feature characters with Down syndrome in cartoons? I would hope not.

It’s ultimately insensitive to the relationship between the mother and child with emphases on ridiculing the mom. I can image why this hurts Sarah so much - it’s an attack on her motherhood.

It’s good Palin is voicing her opinion about this. Prayers for her peace of mind, and for her family too!

I’ve no problem with them mocking anyone - my problem is what they are mocking. Pointing up people’s hypocricy or stupidity or even habits is fair game, because people are responsible for those things. Mocking people because they are disabled, or short, or have red hair, or whatever, is really odious.

Those are excellent points. To be more accurate he used a Downs infant as a tool to attack the infant’s mother.

I watched that episode and it wasn’t just the girl with Downs Syndrome being the daughter of “the former Governor of Alaska”, but that the character was beyond a jerk!
