>What do they do with dogs that are not perfect? Send em to the pound? Put them down? I think probably the latter.<

Really, did some dog show breeder/exhibitor take your parking spot or something? The pups in a given litter not destined for the show ring are called pet quality for a reason. They end up on somebody's couch, and live long, happy lives. They are protected by strict contracts, are spayed or neutered and make passersby stop their owners on the street, because they're beautiful examples of their respective breeds.

These dogs, which are not perfect, are obviously unloved and unwanted. Just click on the link to see the horror < /sarcasm>.

I have never had a dog that wasn’t from a shelter and no dog show has ever affected my decision even for a second.

NY Penal Code applying to the PETA b*t*h*s:

§ 140.15. Criminal trespass in the second degree.
A person is guilty of criminal trespass in the
second degree when he
knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a dwelling.
Criminal trespass in the second degree is a class A
misdemeanor.

Penalty : 1. Class A misdemeanor. A sentence of imprisonment for a class A misdemeanor shall be a definite sentence. When such a sentence is imposed the term shall be fixed by the court, and shall not exceed one year...

Probably they will get probation and told not to go within 1000 feet of any dog show for the year...

And you are to be commended for saving those dogs. Since I have participated in some sort of dog sport since I was ten years old and I value a given set of canine characteristics, I own purebreds exclusively. I also served on the board of a local shelter, and currently am involved in a purebred rescue.

That’s the beauty of living in a free society. We can choose the pet with which we want to spend our lives, and as long as we do not allow our pet to harm another animal or human, we can all exist together quite nicely.

I drive my preferred make of car, one which I’m sure many people would never own. My doing so doesn’t hurt anyone else in the slightest. I also drink a certain brand of soda pop I like more than the others currently on the market.

I agree. If I had a reason or desire for a purebred dog, I wouldn’t hesitate to get one. I just don’t see where that is anyone’s business but my own.

Believe me, you are a member of the “in set”. PETA and its ilk will put you on a pedestal for your choice of canine pet while doing everything in its power to make those who prefer a purebred out to be lower than dirt.

Let’s not jump to conclusions, Hale. With the appropriate brain transplant, some of them babes might just be worth training!
