Another verbal fight that turned violent was posted on YouTube Tuesday.
A man who announces himself as a 67 year old gets into it with a fellow much younger passenger.
It started as an argument that seemed to be a simple misunderstanding over a comment made while taking a seat. The two separated with one moving to the front of the bus for a time. But that time out did not last long. More words are exchanged. Then the younger man walks up front for some more yelling followed by fists flying. Note: the older gentlemen is wearing a light blue t-shirt that reads, "I am a ********#***.
After the fight, the older guy gets off the bus while the younger guy deals with his injuries, including a fairly bloody face.
Does the name Goetz ring a bell?

I think you might find that the crime stats go off the charts when the Warren Court and leftists embraced the view that criminals were not to blame and sentences were diminished for serious crime and there was a general revolt against order.
I’m pretty sure not having state-sanctioned discrimination didn’t cause the crime rates to go up.

What’s true is the 60s coincided with a general change in the attitude towards crime and social order. Some upheaval was probably to be expected due to issues between the sexes, but I think you better be careful of making statements that indicate that equal political rights and being treated as a human being are what caused crime rights to go up. It was the coddling of criminals and the leftist sociological approach to crime that changed things. That and the general social disarray presented by the counterculture movement.
The welfare state pretty much sponsored an all-out war on the values that preserved and would have saved the black community, which was more vulnerable than others in this country.
Don’t forget the “chav” culture in Britain, that engages in the same activity because the father was made redundant by the State and that is a recipe for a societal failure. And that’s mostly white people there.
It is pretty sick how she egged on that guy. That is an example of what they call “violence by proxy” when a man may not have engaged in violence (though he may have been idiotic throughout) without the prompting or intervention of a female.
That she finds the thing so exciting and funny tells me she does not process that kind of shocking violence the way others do. It is customary of a mind inured to such sights and which disrespects the rules that promote the well-being of an orderly society.
Man. You stick your hand in someone’s face like that woman did...not good.

I’m beyond any rationalizing or apologies for the low academic achievement, extremely disproportionate crime rates and general failure that characterizes contemporary black American culture.

I rode New York City's public transit for more than thirty years. Part of my ride each day was over Jamaica Bay, through the wildlife refuge and past JFK. I saw lots of interesting things but never a violent incident. I encountered stuff like this, and this, and this regularly.
Ya just have to get into the spirit of it all . . .
For the uninformed foreigners lurking - In 2008 there were 823 robberies, 3 rapes and 2 murders. Over 5 million people rode NYC's subways each day. Another 2 million rode the buses daily. That's more than 2½ billion rides per year and about 6 crimes a day. Most riders are just trying to get to work and then go home at the end of the day. Many air travelers ride the subway from JFK airport to Midtown Manhattan. It’s quick and convenient.
Civil disorder instigated by African-Americans (and other minorities) happens seven days a week throughout the United States.

Seems like it to me. I suppose I can go on and on about the possible reasons why, who’s to blame, both sides at fault, etc etc, and maybe my observation is just plain wrong. But dammit he’s the boss, he’s ultimately responsible and should have the standing and the effort to try and improve things. But like all other aspects of his presidency he is either simply asleep at the wheel, or so maddeningly off course.
Rather than standing up and making strides towards racial harmony, he’s like a stick poking all the wrong embers, watching and twisting as the country burns.
Man what a sad state of affairs.

Thomas Sowell explains this well in his book “Black Rednecks and White Liberals”.
He compares the crime, unemployment, education, out of wedlock births from decades preceding the Great Society programs of the early and mid-sixties to those same metrics afterwards, and it is shocking.
Shocking, dramatic and sad. He makes the point that it isn’t Poverty, Ignorance and Disease (the triumvirate that Liberals are so fond of invoking) but the intervention of the government that caused this dramatic turn for the worse.
Sad for the black community, and sad for this nation. Probably the worst, most misguided and most damaging liberal policies since the Great Society debacle of FDR.
