Croak Alert!
I will admit to perplexity about aged senators going all the way back to Jesse Helms and Strum Thurmond. Frankly, I think it is ridiculous to assume that anyone could do a good job as a senator, justice of president after age 80.
Seventies? Sure. With modern medical care, many men and women can keep working during that decade, but once they reach 80, it’s time for them to leave office.
I think a constitutional amendment to that affect is needed.
