Hmmm, the constitution seems pretty clear to me:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
No illegals = no anchor babies. Therein lies the ENFORCEMENT problem.
And just because the kids are citizens doesn’t mean we have to allow the parents to become citizens or stay in this country. Strip the parents of any legal rights for endangering their children, put these kids up for adoption, and deport the parents back to their country of origin.
Do this a few times and, believe me, the word will get around and the practice will end.

The angle is: We WANT/NEED *** LEGAL *** Immigration and we need to get tough on ILLEGAL immigration. Just keep hammering that. LEGALS yes! Illegals No.

If you are a national of another country, and not a lawful immigrant alien, then you are just that: a national of another country. Your child inherits your nationality, regardless of where he is born. The fact that you walked in and decided to have a kid doesn't mean anything to the locals. You don't choose who is "them", they do.
Anything else is just tyranny!
Well, yes, the real problem is our welfare system that beckons to these people, and then a porous border and non enforcement of immigration law, and chain migration. Fix all of that, and it wouldn’t be a problem.
