Medina strikes back after 9/11 comments (repeats debunked truther claim as evidence)
ABC News Houston ^ | 02/12/2010 | Ted Oberg

Posted on 02/15/2010 7:58:48 AM PST by BuckeyeTexan

One day after Republican candidate for governor Debra Medina's insurgent campaign hit a speed bump, she's striking back. After comments on Glenn Beck's radio show Thursday that seemed to support 9/11 conspiracy theories, she says she was set up by her opponents.

-snip-

We sat down with Medina to put the comments and her campaign in focus.

It is seemingly all Debra Medina can talk about now.

-snip-

In her news conference Friday, it is clear Medina was trying to clean up the mess. But in our interview with her hours after the Beck radio show, she repeated there are still questions that need to be answered. On Friday, she told reporters she is curious why no New York City police officers died in the towers when so many firefighters did. That's not true, however, as 60 police officers were killed.

We've posted more of our interview with Medina here so you can hear thoughts on 9/11 conspiracies and President Barack Obama's citizenship.

And the TTC? He displayed an arrogance equal only to Obama on that issue. And it aint dead yet...

The truth of the matter is that some approach has to be developed and fairly fast to cope with lack of adequate transportation stucture we now have in Texas. The interstates are overcrowded and will only get worse. I don’t have the answer but a plan needs to be developed, financing devised along with a timeframe.

I think doesn't anwer the question of do you believe. It only states she thinks some good questions have been raised. What is her personal belief beyond the fact that some questions have been raised?

Let me show you how easy this is.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT HAD ANY ROLE IN THE 9/11 ATTACKS.

However I don’t think they’ve answered completely about their failure to detect the threat.

If I can do it, someone who intends to be Governor can do it.

Agree it was a simple answer as to her beliefs whatever they are. But she decided to try to play like a full blown politician and Two Step all around a direct answer. It wasn’t a set up had she chosen to answer the question as asked. Now if her direct belief didn’t match what the people wanted then she would have to answer for that. But she failed big time to start the answer with her belief.

Some good questions have been raised about the government’s involvment. You have to look at what she is answering at that point. Her answer clearly indicates that she believes that the government was involved. It was made worse when her “valid questions” later turned out to be debunked Truther mythos.

Yes I have driven that way and might have the unfortunate opportunity to do it again soon.
I am not anti-progress either. I merely wanted to mention that the way Perry managed the TTC issue is the same way that Obamba has managed the Healthcare issue; Ram it through no matter what the opposition says. I studied the TTC issue and it was like an onion that stunk more and more as each layer was peeled off. I went to some of the meetings and they were just like the healthcare town hall meeting: pissed off people raging at non-caring bureaucrats. In the end, Perry was FORCED to back off.

Just remember that Perry was elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat and he had supported Senator Al Gore.

On February 2, 2007, Perry issued an executive order mandating that Texas girls be vaccinated with Gardasil.

Just think about that for a minute. It still staggers the mind.

I offer these musings only as a counterweight to the heavy Perry-Bot presence on these Medina threads. Personally, I have no use for any of the potential candidates...

Well, we are going to have to make do in Texas. I can’t support KBH under any circumstances. At least Slick Rick postures like a conservative every once in a blue moon.

Its pretty hopeless, but unless a Democrat shows something exceptional as to character, honesty and a fiscally responsible stance..all we have left is Perry.

As it stands, Texas is the most fiscally responsible state in the union, we have a 10 billion reserve, debt of 33 billion, but we are pretty stable financially.

If Slick Rick can continue that....that is all I ask.

I am well aware of the interview and the subsequent damage control.

The same goes with pollsters and ordinary citizens...people have a tendency to answer a question differently depending how the same question is delivered.

I do think she has some truther tendencies, but I submit to you, we all have some sort of conspiracy leanings.

Obama’s b-certificate
JFK assassination
Vince Foster death
WMD’s in Iraq
or whatever. I think it was a Freudian slip myself.

My whole point has been......Perry's an elitist liar as well as KBH. I would rather an ordinary individual or a business owner represent me.

By the way, Glen Beck has attacked recently the very individuals he supposedly attempted to energize.

I like Beck, but sometimes he seems a bit quirky in his views.

D. Medina has never or will ever have a chance in hell of winning over an incumbent...that's just a fact.

My whole original point was to cast votes for Medina, knock KBH outta the race and force a runoff between Medina and Perry.

Perry would win hands down......But!! but!! Think of the message that would be sent to Austin.

A huge portion of the Texas electorate are fed up with all the globalist, buddy buddy, back room, crooked politics.

I've never thought Medina ever had a chance to win....it's all about the message.

So, why’s everyone so hard on this woman?

Stop it with the bulls*** spin already. She claimed that no cops died in the towers on 9/11; that's a slap in the face to the families of the cops who did die. She's a stupid, stupid woman and has no place in any position of power. And to claim that she was "set up" is absolutely absurd.

Here's my question: are you a truther? Do you believe Medina when she claims that no cops died? Do you believe that all Jews were warned ahead of time? Do you believe that Bush planned it all, and that the planes weren't really airliners? Do you believe the towers fell from a controlled demolition?

Medina has taken the fast train to Kookville. Are you on the train with her?

Yes, I heard Jeff Bolton this morning saying that it was a set up by the Perry campaign.

LOL Well Bolton and Wells have both been campaigning for Medina for weeks now. They are about as politically sharp as a pencil eraser. They think they are scaring Beck with all their talk. Wells is not a Texan but pretends he is, came here a few years ago. Bolton was born in TX but hadn't lived here and came from somewhere else. Don't see how anyone could take either of them seriously.

Beck didn’t set her up. Several people emailed him about her being a truther. That’s why he asked her.

Yep, just another variation of "I Have A Plan..."

>>Stop it with the bulls*** spin already<<

Calm down, there's no need to get all riled up.

Answer me this question if you would.

Do you believe Perry or Hutchison to be on the up and up or do you believe they've lied, deceived and or manipulated you on a host of issues for gain or the gain of their insider buddies?

If you answer yes, knowing full well this to be true, then what does this say about our votes?

It's all in the perception. I believe Medina is probably the more genuine of the 3, regardless of her flaw.

Just sayin

I heard Jeff & yes it was his show. He was heavy for Medina & I understand his motivation. Which is to get all career politicians out of government at all levels. So until today I didn’t mind it much.

I was interested in her too & trying to find out more info. We heard about her over a year ago & have been researching her positions. My husband didn’t like her right away, I was on the fence until the weekend.

I didn’t hear any part talking about taking Beck off the air, as I changed the station after all the ranting.

They already shorten Beck’s show, until an hour after his broadcast begins so I listen at work to another station online.

You are correct - he did not rescind it. But, to me that means he still was not listening to the people. Had he vetoed HB 1098 his political career would have ended at that exact moment. He is not stupid.

http://www.kbtx.com/home/headlines/5546651.html

as always, follow the money.....

Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass laws in state legislatures across the country mandating it Gardasil vaccine for girls as young as 11 or 12. It doubled its lobbying budget in Texas and has funneled money through Women in Government, an advocacy group made up of female state legislators around the country.

Perry has several ties to Merck and Women in Government. One of the drug company's three lobbyists in Texas is Mike Toomey, his former chief of staff. His current chief of staff's mother-in-law, Texas Republican state Rep. Dianne White Delisi, is a state director for Women in Government.

Toomey was expected to be able to woo conservative legislators concerned about the requirement stepping on parent's rights and about signaling tacit approval of sexual activity to young girls. Delisi, as head of the House public health committee, which likely would have considered legislation filed by a Democratic member, also would have helped ease conservative opposition.

Perry also received $6,000 from Merck's political action committee during his re-election campaign.

A top official from Merck's vaccine division sits on Women in Government's business council, and many of the bills around the country have been introduced by members of Women in Government.
