The chairman of the US military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, said on Sunday he was concerned about the consequences of any attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
"The outbreak of a conflict will be a big, big, big problem for all of us, and I worry a great deal about the unintended consequences of a strike," Admiral Mullen said.

Put on some dry pants and get to work.
Sick of *unintended* consequences talk. (what kind of crap is that coming from an US Admiral anyways)
Everything has consequences. In this case, mushroom clouds over Israel and US bases in the ME if we don’t act in time.
You got it!
Where did they dredge this guy up from?
The Time for a preventive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities becomes more difficult with each passing day. The Iranian dictators have POTUS Obama’s number, and they know one of two things is true. Obama is either a very weak USA POTUS and leader or, he is silently working to buy time for his Muslim buddies in Iran to get their nuclear weapon. Obama could have made life very difficult for the Iranian dictatorship by siding with the Iranian people who are seeking freedom and liberty from their oppressive government, but Obama is not a freedom/liberty man and he remained deadly quiet as innocent Iranian citizens were beaten and killed on their very own streets. He is, IMHO, in exactly the same league as these despots that rule Iran. The Iranian rulers, through the silence of Obama gained time to get their act together and are now in total control of both the country and government. They look upon Obama and Hillary Clinton as allies in their quest to gain nuclear weapons (It’s a done deal). I wonder when America will wake up, or will we fall as Rome did so many years ago. The fact is, the Roman empire endured for some fifteen hundred years, we’ve barely reached over 200 years. Sad, but true. See folks, we are only one election away from tyranny and destruction. How’s the Obama Hope & Change working out for you, your children, your grandchildren???
Hey, believe it or not, war puts people back to work thus bring our economy out of recession. Hmmm?
Is there anybody east of West Virginia who understands we cannot rely on mutually assured destrcution from a religious fanatic who thinks he’s morally obligated to his god to bring about the end of the world? Even Kruschev in his finest shoe pounding mode wanted to avoid millions more Russians dying. This guy is not K nor is there any reason to believe he won’t set one of these off or sell it to another despot or terrorist.
Don’t worry about Iran with nukes, but focus on getting gays into the Military??
Seems to me like a careerist and bureaucrat - but don’t know enough about him to say for sure.
in the past, the effects of a nuclear strike were so devastating, that the US took any required actions to prevent it.
Have we sunk so low as a nation that we have lost control of our destiny??
And Iran throwing nukes or just using their possession to hegemonize Saudia Arabia and Israel is a lesser problem?
“The outbreak of a conflict will be a big, big, big problem for all of us, and I worry a great deal about the unintended consequences of a strike,” Admiral Mullen said.”
What a wussy sea-biscuit.
Real policy-makers are worried about the consequences of NOT KNOCKING OUT Iran’s nuke capability.
My guess is that that Admiral is banking on a second Obama term and looking to be on the short list of Obama’s Candy Ass Brass List.
Sorta reminds me of a story regarding Admiral King, the five-star Chief of Naval Operations in WWII. In a discussion with the press, King spoke about the US Navy’s plans for the invasion of the Philippines, and the dangers it posed, given the still-potent strength of the Imperial Japanese Navy, including the Yamato, equipped with 18.1-inch guns. “Admiral, won’t this put the fleet at risk?,” asked a reporter. To which the admiral responded with an icy look and a short reply. “Son, that’s what fleets are for.”
Mullen is no Admiral King.
Yeesh. This Admiral is all about the small and petty and is unsuited to the times in which we live. Then again, Britain started WWII with Chamberlain at its helm.
Time
Don’t let Mullen fool you all: This Jack Squat administration has taken Iran as a NUCLEAR FACT!
The chances of Obama okaying a strike against Iran, or backing up Israel in such an action, are exactly zero.
The mullahs will have the bomb if they want it, and O will do nothing to hinder them.
War puts people back to work? You should really consider your words more carefully! Many of us freepers have loved ones fighting these “wars that put people to work” you speak of! My ire at your statement is not based on my lack of support on an Iranian strike if necessary. It’s directed at such a thoughtless and callous statement. There is no number of jobs worth the blood of our sons, daughters, husbands or wives. War is simply a horrible necessity at times. God bless our country and the men and women who so valiantly serve. May we never forget the incalculable price of war.
Not my favorite flag ranker. Not in my top 100,000.
This man Mullen just epitomizes Clinton era brass. He has kowtowed to the Chinese and sweats the Iranians and what the world might look like as a result of unintended consequences.
You are suipposed to be an American Adm Shmuck. Your expertise and skill should be leading and shaping the world—not cowering from it.
Just surrender Americas place and propensity for good—but first surrender the fancy uniform and stars.
There must be some ngo or left wing spittle spewing group that could use your style of leadership.
