I should care what they wear. The fact is that of the Haredi in Israel, which was the original point of the article, there are many that DO serve in the military (there are Haredi units), here too btw, and there are many who do work for a living.
I'm more than a little amazed, though, that you would paint all Haredi as freeloaders when that is clearly not the case.
Are there many who do sponge off the state? Of course. Do I approve of that? No. Does that mean that ALL Haredi sponge off the State? No, it doesn't.
I agree it’s a broad brush, and I did not mean to paint ALL Haredi as freeloaders.
I apologize.
But the question was, “what do they do that makes you dislike them.”
My answer should have been “Many Haredi . . . “
I just read an article about Shas (a political party in Israel for the Haredi Sephardi and Mizrahi).
They are just so welfare oriented they piss me off.
They also seek to the impose (by secular law) of Halakha on secular Jewish peoples.
I don’t disagree with them (regarding religion, or at least mostly), but they are the Israeli Jewish version of Mike Huckabee -— big government from the right that wants to impose their personal view of moral laws via the State.
I can’t stant nanny staters, in the USA or Israel.
You can’t impose a relationship with G-d by secular law.
Each person has to do that themselves, and if they chose not to, that’s between that person and G-d.
That, and I am now doing taxes for two countries.
In a foul mood.
