Joe the Plumber goes rogue (Blasts Palin)
politico ^ | February 13, 2010 | Scott Detrow

Pennsylvania Public Radio's Scott Detrow reports from a conservative event in Harrisburg:

Wurzelbacher touched on several different points during his speech, and many of them were surprising. He said he doesn’t support Sarah Palin anymore. Why? Because she’s backing John McCain’s re-election effort. “John McCain is no public servant,” he told the room, calling the 2008 Republican nominee a career politician.

I pointed out he’d just be plain old Sam Wurzelbacher of Ohio — Joe the Plumber wouldn’t exist – without McCain. His response was blunt. “I don’t owe him s—. He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it.”

Wurzelbacher said, “McCain was trying to use me. I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.”

Interesting that Politico doesn't tell how the “room” reacted when Joe made that statement about not supporting Palin because she's supporting McCain.

I guess it's not surprising because whatever happened, it's not good for the left.

Either the room got pissed with Joe for complaining about Palin which means the crowd still loves Palin despite her unpopular position on the AZ primary, or they agreed with Joe and were pissed that Palin is supporting McCain, the darling of the left. I do wonder what the actual reaction was. The way they left it, they get a whack in against Palin AND Joe.

Sounds like Joe is “peeved” that the million dollar book deals, life story movies, speaking engagements didn’t materialize :)

Joe: Don’t be an ASS!

I spoke with him for about 15 minutes at CPAC. I think he has a political future if so inclined. He has taken his lumps as the MSM gave him an unwarranted full scrutiny aided by dishonest Ohio officials who accessed his personal data illegally violating his privacy.

Joe shows his ignorance of real politics. If Sarah Palin has any chance of running for president and winning she will need the support of the center/left of the Republican Party and Independents. This isn't open to debate, it's a fact. McCain is currently the leader of that faction so, without compromising her own positions she has agreed to campaign for him in return for his support later on.

Reagan had to name Bush, who was the leader of the moderate wing, as his running mate in order to win. Goldwater got clobbered when the moderates sat it out. If (and it's a big IF) Palin gets the nomination don't be shocked if she names a moderate as her running mate. She understands political reality even though many of her supporters do not.

That’s harsh. He may be barely a blip on your radar but I don’t think he deserves to be disparaged that way. He would never snuggle up to dictators, work with anti-American left wing groups or dance on the graves of our fallen soldiers to advance any agenda.

“Sorry Joe, no comparison between you and Sarah!”

Correct. Joe would never sell his soul to the devil by campaigning for McCain.

Then 2010 should have been his year. (And he shouldn’t have bashed Palin!) This is newcomers politics gearing up for the Pubbies even more than in ‘94.

I agree with you..... time will tell IF Sarah knows she too was USED by lord McCain.... just like the rest of conservatives... he is like an unfaithful ‘husband’ and prefers to sleep with liberals while spouting a hollow conservative diatribe.

Whatever Windy Graham is spouting any day of the week is where lord McCain will be once he can seduce enough conservatives to keep him in his seat of power.

He wasn’t bashing Palin. He was saying that he could no longer support her because she was supporting McCain.

Sam Wurzelbacher of Ohio — Joe the Plumber - sounds like any other disillusioned voter who once believed in the concept of public service and then spent time with a John McCain, someone who plays a public servant whenever a camera or microphone is pointed at him.

However, unlike other disillusioned voters, Joe the Plumber was a part of the campaign that might have put McCain into office instead of losing to obama. There are much better 15 minutes of fame.

I don’t love McCain either, but he was instrumental in propelling Sarah into the limelight.

I wouldn’t support his reelection bid against a real conservative, but I do understand why Sarah would campaign for him, because of their history together.

Yeah, I know. But burning bridges like that makes it pragmatically tougher for him to get elected, and politics is the art of the possible.

I agree that McCain is no public servant. I agree that JtP doesn’t owe McCain s***.

Thumbs up!!!

I disagree that McCain screwed up his life.

I don’t know why he’s whining about it now that he’s jetting across the country symbolizing the countries angst and keeping everyones bowels in an uproar...Joe’s life is not screwed up...It is certainly occupied and busy since Obama thrust him onto the political scene...

I agree that McCain used him—that’s politics.

Well, what else was McCain going to do??? There are dozens of examples of thr e absolute wastes of space and time that Obama used (or the media sucked up) to keep the stupid people in this country engaged on Obama’s ongoing campaign...”HE’s going to pay my bills!!!”, iswhte kept hearing...Remember...

Political pimping is not an exclusively liberal idea...

The fact that both Obama and McCain used Joe the Plumber in debates and other discussions is indicative at how absolutely corrupt and out of touch the entire electorate is when it comes to how much they believe they are the only ones that need to be in the system (government) and we should just let them take care of things...

They’ve had their chance...I say we fire every last swinging one of them and put folks like us in there...There are a tone of Freepers I know that are absolutely more qualified and principled than the lot of them added up...

Personally I think it is too late for this country...There are just some people who do not want to admit to it...

Will the world come to an end??? Nope...This country is based upon its people...And it can self-correct...If we fall back on those basic principles in that cherished document, that is under lock and key (in many ways), and get it back nto the mainstream of our lives...We’ll do just fine...Until then...Well...Hang on for the 8 seconds of shear terror, and those that get off on their feet...We’ll be the better for it...

Just my opinion...

"Palin has yet to distance herself from McCain on the amnesty issue or to recant her Univision interview. It is her position on this issue that I am concerned about more than her endorsement of McCain over a true conservative, JD Hayworth. "

Frankly, I haven't heard Palin's stand on illegal immigration and/or amnesty, but based on all her other values, I'd guess she is against both.

The election is over two years away...there is till a LOT to be said, she can't give every minute opinon on every subject in one or two speeches...besides, she has to withhold a few aces for the actual election - IF she decides to run.

I would rally rather her "endorse" a RINO for senator, and be a RINO herself, like Romney and some of the other "favorites".

And, who's to say that her endorsement will make a difference...after all, she stands for individualism and would not want any of us to vote for McCain't just because she endorsed him. Use your own judgement.

The problem with the America electorate - at least the conservative side - is they are looking for the "perfect" human being to run for President...one who espouses ALL of their pet values and thinks just like they do...if that happens, welcome to the democrat party...the lockstep, think-alike party.

Before all the pet peeves of everyone can be addressed, we first have to get rid of the commie faction now taking over our country; that means return to the Constitution, balance the budget, and restore freedom to the people.

That, in itself, is no small order. We can tackle all the periphrial problems once we restore the Constitution.

We just need to stop the micro-managing of the the POSSIBLE candidates and know that we have two years to sort this out, and at the rate obama is going, we may not have a country in two years...so STOP THE BICKERING, band together and get the commies out of the White House.

I really don’t think so. When Joe hit the light-skinned candidate with the question and Joe gave back his retort, this being done in front of national TV news camera. Game over. Obama had stepped into it. John McLame saw the effect of the question and answer then asked Joe the Plumber to get on board. Not the other way around. Why would McLame ask a total unknown to travel with him? That makes no sense. It was Joe who had the spot light and that is why McLame says Joe come stand by me and bring your spot light too.
