FORT WORTH — A federal magistrate on Tuesday ordered two people to remain in custody without bail as authorities continue to investigate an incident that brought the bomb squad to east Fort Worth on Saturday.

SNIPPET: “Al-Homsi, the driver, told officers that there were three pipe bombs in a bag in the backseat area, according to a criminal complaint signed by a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.”

SNIPPET: “The next day, during an interview with investigators, Al-Homsi acknowledged making three pipe bombs in the bedroom of her Arlington apartment in the 2500 block of Ruger Drive, according to the complaint. She told investigators that the pipe bombs contained road flares, Pyrodex powder (a propellant used for muzzle loaders) and match heads.”

SNIPPET: “An inmate who waited in a cell with Ansari before the hearing said Ansari told him that he was the best friend of Al-Homsi’s son...”

SNIPPET: “The Arlington woman arrested earlier this month after police found suspected pipe bombs in her pickup truck exaggerated the capabilities of the explosive devices, a Fort Worth bomb squad official said Wednesday.”

SNIPPET: “On Tuesday, Tatum briefed the City Council on the Feb. 13 incident that closed southeast Loop 820 for about eight hours. In his presentation, Tatum showed pictures of the pipe bombs and dummy detonating device.

The pictures showed black painted PVC pipes that were filled with black powder and had match heads attached to them.

Tatum said bomb squad members were unable to determine Al-Homsi’s intentions, although the NBA’s All-Star Game was in Arlington that weekend.”
