The Boston Globe reported that Amy Bishop, a biology professor at UAH who is accused of shooting and killing three colleagues yesterday, accidentally shot her 18-year-old brother, Seth M. Bishop, in the abdomen with a 12-gauge shotgun in December 1986.
The report said Bishop was asking her mother, Judith, how to properly unload the gun when it when off and a bullet struck Seth.
Braintree Police Chief Paul Frazier is now offering a different account of the shooting to The Globe: "Bishop had shot her brother during an argument and was being booked by police when the police chief at the time ordered the booking process stopped and Bishop released to her mother," the paper reports on its Web site. Records from the case have been missing since 1987.
"I don't want to use the word 'coverup,' but this does not look good," Frazier said.
Another newspaper, The Boston Herald, is reporting that Bishop also pointed the gun at a passing car after her brother's shooting.

this story has some legs ..
But Frazier said the media had been fed an incorrect story. He said that there was an argument at the home on Hollis Avenue and Amy Bishop had fired three shots, including the fatal one, then fled the house and pointed the shotgun at a motorist in an attempted carjack. She was then arrested at gunpoint by officers.
Typical Boston Glob reporting. In their world, all guns fire bullets. Whether it's a shotgun or not.
She has 4 children. God help them.
12 gauge shotgun ... but ... “ a bullet struck Seth. “
Methinks it was not a bullet ;-)
so how did she get hired ... what vetting did they do .. how did she get into harvard and get a phd... how how how.. she is a nut case.. so who else is out there.. teaching our kids..
The report said Bishop was asking her mother, Judith, how to properly unload the gun when it when off and a bullet struck Seth.
This woman's got some talent. She can get bullets to come out of shotguns.
That’s how Braintree women unload their guns.
Slug or pellets? What crappy reporting.
did she break in the police office and steal the records or buy off an officer to get the records or lay for someone to get the records? if she would lie she will steal if she steals she will do most anything.. in this case kill maybe the second time or who knows how many more..
Shotgun “slug” is the same as a “bullet” to the mass media, who not know anything about firearms.
William Delahunt (Democrat) was the prosecutor who did not press charges.
so, who had the clout to pressure the police to drop this case 24 years ago? And let a walking time bomb out among us all this time
BTTT!!!!!!!
In an interview at his home this afternoon, Polio, 87, said, “There was no coverup.” He said he followed all department procedures and then-District Attorney William Delahunt’s office conducted an inquiry and the decision was made not to file charges.

Hmmm... the prosecutor in Braintree at the time? Now Democrat CONGRESSMAN William Delahunt.
Just a guess, but the idea of "diversity" may figure into the scenario in some way.
