Fox News - Global Warming Debate Heats Up in Wake of Record Snowstorms ( slightly pro GW? )
Fox ^

Posted on 02/13/2010 7:35:16 AM PST by o2bfree

The article starts with the following: "Joseph Romm, a climate change expert and former Energy Department official; Jeff Masters, a meteorologist who writes on the Weather Underground blog; and others argue that this winter's snowstorms are, counterintuitively, evidence of global warming and not cooling.

"It's absurd for the 'anti-science side' to say we're in a cooling trend when we're in an overall warming trend," says Romm of the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank. "Heavy snow is not evidence that climate science is false," he added, noting that "the snow we've seen is entirely consistent with global warming theory."

How does this article end? It ends with this: "The science isn't settled," he says. "Yes, the climate has warmed -- that's not a hoax. But can't we go back and reconsider the science? Let's just step back and reconsider."

Although Fox is playing both sides in the story, they seem to push the ball ever so slightly forward in favor of the Climate Change kooks.

nothing wrong with admitting possibility of “climate change”- we all live on top of geological proof of climate change!

the KOOKS think it is getting warmer and MANKIND and our CARBON caused it and MANkind can control it by limiting carbon.... LOL!

we need a list of the most active activists that favor this fraud and then send them a copy of the RICO act... along with their AG in their state.

“It’s absurd for the ‘anti-science side’ to say we’re in a cooling trend when we’re in an overall warming trend,” says Romm of the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank

See, you’re just a stupid hick if you don’t accept the AGW “science” says a liberal think tank spokesman who is, I’m sure, well versed in climate science. Like those fine folks at the IPCC and UEA.

Does this mean that, “counterintuitively”, global cooling will lead to record heat waves?

Just wonderin’

"...nothing wrong with admitting possibility of “climate change”..."

Climate change IS real-absolutely positively REAL!

We just changed the name. We used to call "climate change"seasons.

End of story

Phack you FOX and any other dipchit that tries pushing this worn out nonsense. The cover is gone. Climate Change/Global Warming is a hoax!

You accept the label “anti-science,” you lose the debate.

Label yourself “anti-alarmist.” Very reputable scientists are on the anti-alarmist side.

An important observation. It is indeed difficult to deny a global warming trend (although with recent events coming to light, it may get easier,) it is the cause of the warming that is in dispute, and by extension both how much more warming there may be in the future.

There is also dispute as to the consequences of such warming. Postive aspects of a warmer Earth have been suppressed, favoring only negative aspects.

Climate change is a fcat and no one disputes te climate has “changed” several times over the past thousands of years. It gets warmer then it gets cooler. In this the science is indeed “settled”

What science needs to determine is the WHY of climate change and here is where the science is anything but settled. Trying to use human activity to explain the recent global warming (now cooling) does not explain the medieval warming period and others shown to have occurred by the examination of deep sea core samples.

Or, as the earth rotates, does its turning away from the sun cause increased daylight?

You are aware that figures showing “global” warming have been shown to be falsified? Thanks to the Russians blowing the cover of the IPCC frat boys.

And even so, without global warming the last great ice age would not have ended?

“It’s absurd for the ‘anti-science side’ to say we’re in a cooling trend when we’re in an overall warming trend...”

I can’t think of anything more anti-science than what went on at East Anglia and the IPCC which proves that Global Warming is a religion, not science. This is just their way of saying anyone who thinks or can prove differently is a heretic.

This is dangerous stuff that needs to be challenged head on, and I am astounded at the lack of public outrage at the climate change fanatics.

Yes. Global cooling could lead to record heat waves in areas not consequently snow-covered. Global cooling would result in or from a lack of water vapor in the atmosphere, which leads to less rainfall in inland locations (especially during the summer). A lack of rainfall and more bright sunlight in turn depletes soil moisture. When the sunshine heats soil depleted of moisture, it heats the soil rather than evaporate the very limited or non-existent soil moisture. The hot soil conducts thermal energy to the air, leading to record high temperatures.

Whereas global cooling should lead to more climatic extremes, especially but not exclusively on the cold side, global warming (if occurring appreciably) would lead to climatic moderation and consequently to higher temperature means but fewer extremes outside a few relatively small areas consequently deprived of moisture.
